Why would a guy get angry if a girl unfriended him?

I’m curious and would like opinions- I have been friends with a guy after meeting at college for about 5 years. Wed talk on and off but then he got engaged and I had feelings for him so I had to unfriend him.
He then sent me a message all annoyed and then later apologised….. I don’t get why he got so angry BUT he knew how I felt but he claimed he didn’t feel the same at the time.

I remember the time we talked before this I mentioned my ex to him and he said something like ‘well he wasn’t the guy for you’…it’s almost as if he felt something for me but didn’t admit it.

What do you think, any opinions?

Why did you unfriend him? That’s why he got annoyed with you , he looked at you as a friend but clearly it sounds like you wanted more than just friendship with him , so if that is the case , then that’s your problem , you had 5 years to make a move on him and you choose not to , so you shouldn’t be upset with him for getting engaged to someone else , it’s ok for a girl to make the first move , why girls feel a guy has to make the first move is dumb thinking. We aren’t mind readers. Most people just assume things that aren’t really true. So again you had your chance and you choose not to go for it , so you left room for him to meet someone else by you not being honest with him how you truly felt about him
