Is it possible to have a love so deep between two friends of different genders?

My closest buddy became emotional on my birthday and said i meant a lot to him. I could feel the huge love and care he has for me.

He once told me he just likes the people he is dating but doesn't love him.

So there are statistical facts out there, if research it yourself. About 75% of all people usually at some piont in their lives have a friendship with someone that over time turns romantic.

True fact... your 30% more likely to marry someone that started out as a friendship.

Why? Because friends usually full fill some emotional need that only opposite sex friendship can provide... but maybe the physical attraction isn't there right away. But as you get older, and spend more time with this person... maybe the physical aspects, become less important or the friendship becomes more meaningful.

Now to me, maybe his attraction to you is based upon the possibility that other then your friendship with him... he's not getting any other emotional fulfillment or interactions with opposite other than with you as his friend. So you might have a more elevated position in his life than he has in yours.

Yes. I don't think I've ever wept in any of my ladyfriends presence like that. But when my ladyfriend went through her divorce it tore me up in side. Because I knew how much she put into that marriage and I knew how much she was hurting.
