Is it possible for a friendship between opposite sexes that has lasted for 6 months to express "I love you" without any sexual involvement?

It is indeed possible but sooner or later the one or the other gender will not be satisfied with simple friendship without having to involve some kind of emotions.

It is actually very sad that emotions very often destroy friendships between genders. This is also the reason why I am very cautious with friends of the opposite gender. I make it clear to the males that I do befriend that there will never be any emotions between them and me and on the first sign of breaking this rule, I will relinquish this friendship. I have no hesitation about doing it.

To me true friendship never involves those kind of emotions because they destroy those friendships forever.

Seems very problematic to me. I reserved this 'I love you' for a real boyfriend or partner. It can happen quite quickly that one of the two suddenly feels more than just friendship for the other and then hearing 'I love you' won't make it any easier for her or him.

I wouldn't it's impossible... However, unless it's family, same sex friendship or one of you id gay, odds are it will eventually make things awkward, I would abstain from an "I love you comment" if I were you... Also 6 mounths... not a whole lot of time even if he wasn't a straight guy friend.

Most definitely... Anything is possible.. But it's not likely though.. I wouldn't say it in that way.. I hardly say it to my own mother.. They would just know.

Yes. I’ve done it. And meant it. Knowing full well I wasn’t going to be able convert it. It’s exceptionally rare and takes a lot of maturity and admiration.
