Why do I do this?

Even if me and guy breakup on amicable terms I can never ever get back with them.

It's knowing they've been with someone else after me I just can't be with someone after that happens

Plus I feel like I don't know who they are anymore once we stop speaking

Is this a bad thing?

I understand. You sound just like how I used to be: "It's knowing they've been with someone else after me." That was always a really painful thought that would torment the hell out of me at night with old exes, thinking they were already with someone else, or sleeping with them and I wasn't.

You might just have an attachment. Best thing to do is try to work through it, learn to let go, search inside yourself for the reasons and resolve to change them.

Yeah maybe I still feel attached in some way. It will be on my mind constantly, he touched someone else, blah blah etc it just consumes me

It's painful thinking about it, but what helps is trying to keep in mind that if he was meant for you and meant to touch only you, then he would still be doing it. And you also have to consider that even if he's touching someone else now, he might not be meant for them either.
