When you were a child and you got caught in your first lie, do you remember how you felt? Did you lie to get out of the original lie? Did you fess up?

The first time I got caught in a lie I was 5 years old. I don't remember who she was, but she was a slim, tall lady that kept asking me to tell the truth and not to lie. I remember I just wanted to run away from her as fast as I could and go get my Mommy to get me out of that mess with that woman.
To this day, because that day is so imprinted in my mind, that I never lied again because it made me feel so afraid and uncomfortable with no way out and I never wanted to feel that way again.

Although I lied many times during my childhood, the one I remember the most is the one that resulted in my getting my bare bottom soundly paddled by the woman who was taking care of me and my little brother when our parents were on vacation. Katherine was in the midst of a nasty divorce, and was therefore in a very bad mood to begin with. When she questioned me about skipping school, I assured her that I had attended all my classes that day, but when she checked the answering machine, and heard the message from my first period teacher, asking where I was, she knew just how to handle the situation, and she went upstairs and got her long, rectangular wooden paddle, and took me down to the basement, where she lowered my trousers and then proceeded to simply tan my hide.

Yeah it's not good to lie just in order to make yourself feel better. A person needs to learn to confront problems when they arise and ask people for help. I've struggled with asking people for help more than lying.

Seem like the opposite for me because I was always telling the truth and that’s why I was always getting in trouble. Lol.
