I have a big crush on a local and I casually flirt with him. We smile at each other, but my loved ones are telling me "to be slow and act cool" I've never been in love and everytime I see this guy, i get extremely nervous with butterflies

I'm being told to not say anything, to wait for him to make the first move. I'm scared that if i wait, It'll be too late and I'm regret this.

I say cheesy things to him like "hi hot stuff" and I haven't said anything because I'm being forced to stop. Last time I tried to say something I was being called to by my mother – now this guy knows my name.

What should I do? Should I wait for him to make a move or just go with my instincts?

First of all, don't let others tell you what to do or how to behave around this guy. If you feel strongly about him and he seems interested, it's okay to make the first move. There's no reason to wait around and wonder if he'll do something just because others have told you to.
If your instincts are telling you to go for it, I say go for it. Life is too short to miss out on opportunities because of what other people think. If he's not interested, at least you took your chance. If he's into you, you'll have started something great.

I don’t like it. I love it. We don’t live in the 19th century. Women can and should make the first move on a man they’re attracted to. You shouldn’t have to wait and hope he does. He might be shy or not know you like it. Go for it. The worst thing that could happen is he says he’s not interested

Depends on the woman. All I'm looking for is sincerity. It doesn't matter whether she's reserved or she let's it "all hang out" (emotionally speaking) if I doubt her sincerity.
