What's the problem? I thought women did not care about money. Yet why is it so important to them? I thought women would be happy raising a family at the poverty line. What's with this double standard. Don't care about money yet turn around and say... Well...

I think it is similar to when men say they don't want a girl who is fat or who has a high body count. Men will say "I want a woman who is healthy" or "I don't want a woman with STDs."

But I think the reality of those statements is that there is no reasoning. It is merely biology. Men don't want a slut because we evolved to have a distaste for a woman who bred with someone else. It is a genetic survival mechanism. Same with female beauty. We don't want a fatty because we want what biology tells us to want.

And then we try to stick an explanation onto it as if we are conscious and we CHOSE to feel that way.

In the same way, women are biologically designed to seen out males who as Jordan Peterson might put it "have competence with spans all dimensions of competency."

There is no logic. There is no "oh we need money for our kids to live a good life."

No. Women did not choose to feel that way. They cannot help but feel that way because biology has determined our sexualities for us.

I know women married to guys that don't make much, and dating some as well. But it does create stress. Money can provide security.

The opposite... having money can also cause stress, if they think differently about it or don't know how to manage it.

Not all women are the same, some value other attributes like relgious mission intention for one, or intellect. For most, they are looking for some quality of life and passion, work ethic, money provides that.

I feel like most reasonable people would want to give their children the best possible life they can and set them up for success later in life as well. Most people don’t want to live at the poverty line where you’re stressed out about bills etc. If you have a good income it is just easier give your kid what they need and you get the added bonus of two parents not fighting over money lol

Women today want a tall guy but can't even have motherly qualities to protect her children. Do you care about your children?

Once a woman becomes a mother her child's wellbeing becomes of outmost importance. She will still love her husband but if you are at a poverty line how are you supposed to provide the best life for your children?

Same way men care about getting a beautiful woman, women care about their children having a chance of survival.

If you can't provide for kids the don't have them? Personally I wouldn't be able to sustain one so I don't have them.

A bit sick of grown men having kids and then moaning that women turn around and want more to grow them.

Because when reality sets in you have to take into account that children are not cheap. And their needs are not fleeting...
It becomes an issue when one partner seems to be doing more than the other to support the family financially, emotionally, and just holding a lot of the stress that can come with a lack of support.

I met a man this week who actually said he doesn't believe his wife should have to go to work.
He works as a broadband engineer has 2 children with his wife.
Anyways he said he thinks its better if he brings in the money, yes they make sacrafices but the children really need their mum.

He said he's not against women working just he feels they benefit from having mum around more.

I didn't agree or disagree, I just said it's best to do what you think is best for your marriage and your family.

I don’t care about money for me. My partner earns the same as me, we don’t get much and our rent and bills are high, I pay more than he does, and I have always loved him and always will regardless of money.

What I do care about if I were to have a family is that my children grow up not struggling. That doesn’t mean my partner must make x amount of money, but money is important when you are raising kids. Children deserve the best life possible. Who wants their kids to go hungry because you can’t afford food? Who wants their kids to be cold and ill because you can’t afford heating?

My family have never been well off and I missed out on a lot as a child because of that. I wasn’t able to do what my friends could, I had no help with anything. I love my parents and had a great upbringing but if I were to have kids I would love to be able to support them as much as I could and would wait until we were financially stable and not having to worry about money

Typically it's men who want to make money when raising a family. It's a matter of pride for men to tell colleagues, friends & family I don't have my family living in a hovel.

Exception to this is of course men with little to no education, little to no motivation, etc. where raised in poor welfare trooden households and don't know how to work at all. These are the men who'll never amount to anything even if unmarried all of their life.

Unfortunately in this society, without sufficient money, you will have a very hard time raising a family. Childcare costs money. Raising a child on a single income so one parent can stay home costs more. Food, clothing, diapers, activities, preschool... all of that takes money. Its not "shallow" to want to raise your children above the poverty line- the poverty line is barely making it work, if that. Money isn't everything, but its hard to exist without enough of it.

But raising this way kids is kinda unacceptable for me. Children don't ask to be brought here, so if we decide to do it, we should be sure to secure their lives the best possible way.

It matters because the kid or kids is an extra person to take care of. Food, clothes, education, ... But if he's an asshole with money, I'm not going to stick around, that would be hell. Both parties just have to work together and pull their weight. My boyfriend didn't have a job for a while. I stayed with him. We keep going when the going gets tough. And we'll come out stronger because of it.

Besides the day to day expenses, add sports, school, change them all over, family vacations, then add possible higher education and maybe a wedding or two and hopefully your retirement at sometime in the future all of that takes a lot of money.
