Yeappp;
Second Cousins: So, your second cousin is actually a bit further out on the family tree than, say, a first cousin. Here's the simple version: your second cousin is the child of your parent's first cousin. Confusing? Let's put it into perspective. You know your mom or dad's cousins, right? Those are your first cousins once removed (a whole other story). Their kids are your second cousins. So, you share great-grandparents with your second cousins but not the same grandparents.
Family Tree Chart: Think of a family tree chart like a map of your family's history. It's a visual representation showing how everyone in your family is connected. It usually starts with one person (like you or your ancestors) at the bottom or the center, and then branches out to include parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so on. It's like a genealogy GPS!
In a family tree chart, each 'branch' represents a different generation. Your parents are on one level, their parents (your grandparents) are on the next level up, and it goes on like that. This chart can get super detailed, with dates of birth, marriages, deaths, etc.
Hope that clears things up! Have you ever tried mapping out your own family tree? It can be a pretty interesting journey into your family's past!
@sage2021 Other users have adequately described what a second cousin is. Some people believe that your first cousin's child is your second cousin, but that is incorrect. Second cousins are members of the same generation, couting down from your common great-grandparents. Your first cousin's child is your first cousin, once removed. "Once removed" means that you are one generation apart. Your first cousin's grandchild would be your first cousin, twice removed. And your first cousin's wife would be your first cousin by marriage.
@OlderAndWiser
So what happens when we cross over the International Date Line? 🙃 I didn't understand a word you said. Sorry!
I think since I have a very very small family and didn't have all of those relatives us why this is something I can't wrap my head around nor do I need to even try. 🙄
Good question. I could never work it out. Is it your parent's cousin or your cousin's child?
Your parent's cousin's chikd

Let's say Alice and Bob have two children, Charlie and Dean. Charlie and Dean are siblings.
Let's say Charlie has a child called Euan and Dean has a child called Freya. Euan and Freya are cousins.
Now let's say Euan has a child called Grant and Freya has a child called Hazel. Grant and Hazel are second cousins.
Second cousins have the same great-grandparents as you. Think of it this way: your mom's first cousin's child is your second cousin. Or, your grandpa's brother's grandchild (your dad's aunt's grandchild) is your second cousin. You're in the same generation, they're just not as closely related.
Basically, incest, would still be wrong. Since you're still related by blood, but, not "as wrong" as a first cousin
Actually, the prohibition againsty incest does not include even first cousins if you read the Bible, or if you examine the laws of most countries around the world. In fact, in some cultures in which a woman must be accompanied by a dowery, first cousin marriages are encouraged as it keeps the wealth within the family. In addition, the risk of genetic mutations among the offspring of first cousin marriages is only slightly greater than that risk in the general population of random matings. First cousin marriages are prohibited in about half of the states of the US, but that is an aberration compared to the remainder of the world.
The preceding covers only Biblical and statutory law. If first cousin marriages bother you, then don't support them. Second cousin marriages are not prohibited anywhere, or by any cultural norms.
@OlderAndWiser 60% of kids born in Bradford England are born of cousin marriage https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67422918.amp
@purplepoppy Bradford is a shit hole
A second cousin is the offspring of a first cousin.
Your second cousin is your mother or father’s first cousin.
It's like if your geratgrandparents has 1,2 kids your grandparents has 2 kids than your parents has 1 kid than its left to you first cousin is the up first one
Basically your grandparents sibling's children..
No, that would be a first cousin, once removed. A second cousin would be your grandparents' siblings' grandchildren.
@OlderAndWiser True, I was off by one..
It is very easy to get this confused because much of the general population perpetuates an incorrect definition.
@OlderAndWiser Yes sir, I would say I was confused, I just didn't pay mind to the Children/grand children part..
@OlderAndWiser I wouldn't..**
