What is a relationship "deal breaker" for you?

Do you agree with the common relationship deal breakers? What's your deal breaker for a potential partner? Have you ever experienced it?

Everyone's got their own list, but here are some common ones that I've seen pop up time and again in discussions, and a couple of personal observations:

Dishonesty: This one's huge. If someone can't be straight with you, how can you build trust? Whether it's little white lies or big deceptions, it's a major red flag.

Lack of Communication: It's all about talking things out. If someone clams up or refuses to discuss issues, it's like trying to drive with a blindfold.

Different Life Goals: This one's tricky. You might both be great people, but if one wants kids and a house in the suburbs, and the other wants a childfree life traveling the world, well... that's a tough gap to bridge.

Disrespect: If they don't respect you, your time, your boundaries, or your values, then what's the point?

Controlling Behavior: Big no-no. If they're trying to control who you see, what you wear, or how you spend your time, it's not just a deal breaker, it's a sign of potential abuse.

Addiction Issues: This one's sad but true. If they're struggling with addiction and not actively seeking help or in recovery, it can lead to a world of pain for both parties.

Incompatible Intimacy Needs: Let's be real, physical compatibility matters. If you're on different pages about frequency or type of intimacy, it can lead to frustration and resentment.

Lack of Independence: Clinginess or needing constant attention can be exhausting.

What's interesting is how these deal breakers can change over time or depending on where you are in life. Like, in your 20s, you might not care much about life goals, but as you get older, things like that can become way more important. Personal experience speaking here! 😅

I once dated a guy who was super cute, he seemed like such a nice honest guy. As the time went on I found out he'd been lying about almost everything in his life since the beginning, he lied about where his family lived, lied about his job, lied about little things a lot. When I found out it was an automatic turn off I blocked him on everywhere! His looks or sth didn't matter at all. I hate liars my God!

I don't think you get to "relationship deal-breakers" right off the bat, but rather you have "dating deal breakers". I would never even date a maga-dolt, a smoker, a druggie or addict of any kind, a girl with excessive tattoos or someone so deeply religious that it rules their life.

I have to chuckle at the guys who list having male friends as a deal breaker - talk about insecure! I've been friends with a particular girl since we were 14 years old. We've traveled together, gone to shows & movies together, talk whenever we want, the usual friend stuff. We've never had sex. We've met each other's SO's and everyone hit it off except one guy who she ended up divorcing anyway. If a guy she was dating were to tell her he doesn't want to see her anymore because of our friendship, she'd tell him "there's the door loser, glad I found out now". LOL

I'll be honest... if when the time comes (no pun intended) and she spits me out, I'm going to feel rejected at some level majorly. Call me an asshole. I won't blame my past flames but since high school I've been lucky until spoiled. My girls have always been eager to satisfy me that way. I know not all girls are like that.
