I'm asking 'cause some of my friends can't stay single for some reason lol they always need to have a relationship.
As for me, I'm okay with both. I really love having my own special person but I won't just date randoms just to "not feel lonely". I need a real connection.

Life's funny. In January 2011 after a string of bad relationships I swore off women for good. Single lifestyle and it was good, cool. Could be and do whatever I wanted.
Sure I flirted but the thought of a relationship never was considered.
Was enjoying the single life. Then. Out of the blue. I started chatting, unexpectedly to a friend of a friend.
Before we knew it we were talking until 4am on the phone, just enjoying each other.
Been together 12 years now. I guess love finds you when you least expect it and I wasn't even looking.
Having a good relationship brings peace and happiness knowing someone is commited to taking care of you if you can rely on them, but the plurality of people you date simply cannot be trusted to do those things and may end up hurting you. Being single also brings peace, but in a more definitive way because you only need to rely on yourself and you can trust yourself. It gets lonely sure. Just because your single does not mean you can't hookup with who you want. At the end of the day you are still single.
I think I prefer being in a relationship because at the end of the day, I wanna have a lifelong partner and children.
i love the single life. Don't have to answer to anyone, I don't have to worry about bs excuses about why my calls and texts aren't returned, don't have to worry about them doing something behind my back. I can enjoy a guy's company but to have a commitment with someone is setting myself up for betrayal and deceit. I will never commit to a man who will never commit to me because the reality is most men aren't monogamous so why try to change a man into something that he's not. Also I love living alone its very quiet and peaceful.
Your theory about men is less accurate than you led yourself to believe. For most men its difficult from initiating contact, setting a date and all the other shit that follows. The men you are speaking of have a charm that women gravitate to, like an invisible lasso, slowly pulling them in unaware of why.
You wouldn't enjoy being alone of it wasn't by choice. Get rid of your phone and go live on an island somewhere and be alone for yearā¦. or 2ā¦. three? Its easy for you to obtain the company of man for a night, for man, not the sameā¦. Women have the choice of spending the night alone, for men, its a chance. Its a womans world, always has been, always will be.

Recently, Iāve been through so many things totally alone, I even wondered, why do I need a relationship?
Right now, I am almost totally alone in one of the most vulnerable situations Iāve ever been to and I am still doing fine.
So, I donāt know what a relationship can potentially add to my life?
I donāt feel lonely, as long as I have myself. I treat myself well.
I treat myself better than the best boyfriend could treat you.
I feel inner strength and I am content being on my own.
When I come across the problems, I can still literally carry myself with my own shoulders.
Youāve rediscovered you have strength and can stand on your own. What is it in life that you canāt achieve alone? Are you perfectly content as is?
For me, companionship. Someone to laugh with, cry with, love with, dance with, live with, embrace with, enjoy with, share with, walk with, talk with, eat with, play with, argue with, makeup with, travel with, stay in with, venture with, have fun with, raise a family with, grow together with. A partner. Something that requires trust. Someone for me to support, protect , stand by, and defend. And to have it all reciprocated.
Whatever your criteria, you should make these determinations on your own when you are standing your own two feet, empowered to do so. Maybe you already made them a long time ago and need to have the courage to believe that the next time around, you will succeed. Maybe youāre perfectly happy running solo. Up to you.
I think I am no longer interested in any of those. I am happier alone, less pain, less disappointments, Iāve got at least one person whoāa not going to betray me while I am alive - Which is myself. I am happy with my own company.

I am honestly okay with both. I like the relationship I am in and have no desire for that to change, however I was happy when I was single too. They both have pros and cons. In my experience the women I was friends with that jumped from relationship to relationship and was unable to stay single were unhappy in themselves. There was something broken that needed to be fixed

m until recent, couple of years ago... I've always been in a relationship since age year 16, and yes it's always been great for many reasons, no past experience has ever made me think relationships are bad... all the contraire
but these last couple of years have been the longest time I've been single, and... I have not been bothered by it at all, it doesn't feel like a struggle and I also don't feel like "I just need" to get with someone again... but I do have a few things to take care of as well, so
I can very much enjoy life either way, I know this... now, if I had to pick either... I'd definitely prefer to be in a relationship with someone as great as I've always had it, no doubt... but I won't be rushing into one either
They both have different advantages. For example, the feeling of being able to freely do the things I enjoyed doing when I was alone is very nice, or falling in love with someone and seeing that person loves you is also a wonderful feeling.
But here's the thing, I'd rather not be in a relationship at all than be in a relationship with someone who will make me unhappy and sad all the time just to avoid being alone.

Coming out of a divorce for now it's good being single, it gets lonely at times, but I must say w times have changed since I last was dating, women seem more materialistic, I mean the first thing they ask your is do you own your own home or rent, followed by what's do you do for a living how much do you make my response is good on let me check if course I don't return, to me that's not something you ask someone with minutes of meeting then, and the ease in which people in relationships have no morals about cheating just doesn't excite me to want to enter into a relationship unless I met figure who knows what commitment is but good thing about being single is my body is exactly how I left it when I went to sleep when I wake clean there's more but I'm to long in writing as it is but I Rather be in a relationship just need to find the right lady who honestly wants the same
When I was younger I used to believe I needed a relationship. I used to believe I was supposed to have particular things by a particular age or it would reflect poorly on me as a person.
Simply put... I was a fool.
Now I've had quite a few girlfriends, been married once, divorced once, even had a daughter in there... but I'm done with all that now. I've had the experiences and don't need to have them again.
I still don't own a home, nor a car, but I never cared about the latter and the former was never even an option for me. I didn't manage to get a PHD either... but I've got a BSc, and I suppose that is fine.

People who can't be alone AND do the work of reading about relationships, psychology like attachment styles, and wisdom are going to repeat the same cycles over and over and NEVER learn.
I think people who go from person to person are stupid and they are, and you'll notice your serial dating friends are afraid to be alone and are codependent, VERY damaged people who shouldn't even be in relationships and who have to work on themselves.

For most of my life I'd been single and at most times, lonely especially when I learnt that a lot of my younger family got girlfriends, then married and had kids. I kind of loved the singles life, accepted it would be this way till I get very old. When I was much younger I did manage to date a few people and even got into relationships with 2 others before but they weren't long term. I feel I'm at a point now I am ready to have a long relationship so I'd prefer that instead.

I rather stay single then step into a relationship that isn't meaningfull enough to last for a long period because I'm okay being alone. It's not worth the time and effort that is required to be in a relationship if it's going to fail anyways.
But after a few years being alone already, I do miss having someone around to care for and have a special connection with. Time will tell if I'm destined to find new love again somewhere in the future or not

Honestly, women tend to piss me off far more often than they make me feel happy, and considering how 95% of the time I'm given the cold shoulder or receive downright hostile and disrespectful reactions from them for daring to interact with them, I think I'm better off single and living the bachelor life.

For the longest time I needed a woman in my life instead of being single.. I hated being alone. Now I like having companionship and someone you can chill with on the weekend and just lay in jogging pants and watch movies all weekend. I would pick a relationship for sure.
I'm not the biggest fan of being single but I've also never even been on a date so I don't even know what not being single feels like and all forms of media make it seem like being single is the worst thing a guy could be but at the same time making it look like the only option especially in North America.
That's doesn't sound good. U never feel what is truly love, U should stick to 1 person and go tru together every hell out there. Then U know a magic of love. It's like U trusting on God which is U never see. It's like a wind that flow in the air, which u didn't see but feel how strong is it.

It's better to be single than to be with the wrong person. The very first woman I ever dated unintentionally taught me that. She was clingy and very insecure about herself. She'd get mad at me if I didn't text her back within 5 minutes, even if I had good reason for it. I've also went on dates with women that seemed interested in me and I paid for dinner, only for them to completely ghost me afterwards and I would never hear from them again. Nothing wrong with being picky.

@PrinceWalnut thatās probably true, but doesnāt negate the fact that I would feel uncomfortable doing things in when in a relationship like complimenting guys (even if itās an innocent compliment), thinking a random man on the street is attractive (I wouldnāt do anything about it, just feel guilty for thinking that way), and I also like the freedom of getting to flirt whenever I want with whoever I want (which is something a romantic partner would definitely have an issue with).

I can't really say as I've never been in a relationship. I would really likem to be in a relationship. But I doubt it will happen. I'm mostly fine on my own though my family are nice enough to make me feel bad about being single often enough.

It does but I have issues with sensory and anxiety. So I always have ear phones in and I dont really talk to a lot of people. Plus even when I do it's not a time you can try to get to know them.

Being the Elder Brother of four younger sisters I've always treasured my alone time, by temperament I'm what you'd call a 'lone wolf' which explains why I've taken Engineering as a career and I work overseas a lot.
