More Unmarried Women Than Unmarried Men in the U.S

What are the reasons as per you, except for the gender ratio gap? How do you think it will evolve in the future?

Other than the sex gap (more women than men) the only other explanation is that gay men get married at a rate similar to lesbians. Here it is:

Let X be the total number of women in society and Y be the total number of men.
Let X > Y as there are more women than men in the population.
Let Z be the number of heterosexual married couples, each of which has one man and one woman.
Then X - Z is the number of women not in hetero marriage and Y - Z is the number of men not in hetero marriage.
It follows that X - Z > Y - Z
Let A be the number of lesbo marriages and B be the number of gay marriages
Then the number of unmarried women is X - Z - 2A and the number of unmarried men is Y - Z - 2B
Therefore there will be more unmarried women than unmarried men if and only if:

X - Z - 2A > Y - Z - 2B or if,
X - Y > 2(A - B),

Therefore it follows that the sex gap must be at least twice as large as the difference in the number of lesbo couples over the number of gay couples. I'd presume that lesbos are more likely to get married than gay dudes, but it would appear that they aren't so much more likely to marry that the effect overcomes the sex gap.

I'd say that means there are more women in the U. S. A. because the numbers of married people should be the same. For there to be a marriage there needs to be one man and one woman. If a guy is married than that means a woman is also married because it takes one of each to make a pair.

I'm omitting same sex marriages. There are some but not enough to really sway the numbers one way or the other. The vast, vast majority of marriages are traditional, male/female.

So if there are more unmarried women that would probably mean there are just more women than men.

The irony disappears when you consider that those studies group divorced men with single men, half of marriages end in divorce, and women file the vast majority of divorces. The headline should actually read "happily married men are happier than single men".

Point is that those men are happy in a marriage as long as it lasts, but the woman isn't thus they divorce. I think men should better ask themselves how to keep a woman cause clearly she makes them happiest

No, the point is that it's very misleading to say, based on those studies, that married men are happier than unmarried men. The real question is, on average, will getting married improve the odds of a man being happy. When you consider all of the factors, the answer is clearly no. The reality is that at least 50% of men will regret getting married (we know this based on the divorce rate), and the percentage is actually much higher because a lot of men choose to remain in an unhappy marage for various reasons, because men don't quit like women do.

In the past, married couples had a greater sense of commitment. They worked on improving the marriage rather than quitting as soon as the honeymoon phase was over and things weren't as bright and shiny as they were initially. Clearly it is women today who have thrown in the towel on commitment. Your tact of blaming men for the high divorce rate is sadly typical, and unfortunately dangerous for the future of marriage as an institution.

We can both just speculate reasoning without clear facts, but ask divorce lawyers why women divorce, its because men are not willing to work on relationship and women get fed up making them do so. That doeant mean quitting if you gave it your all to make it work. Its called common sense, women also dont need to put up w men anymore cause they earn their own money, but men still think they will as their mothers did in the past.

To add on your first point, of men get divorced doesn't mean they regret the marriage, it could be that was the happiest time of their life.

Also lets not make this into male female wars, there are bad apples from both sidea but im twlling you look up what divorce lawyers (men lawyers as well)

Do you have a source to back up your claim about what divorce lawyers say about why women divorce? Because the few I've talked to dis not corroborate your claims, at all.

I'll also add that in the last ten years there have been five divorces in my family and social circle. All but one were filed by the wife, and that one was because she was cheating so he filed. In all of the others things were complicated but definitely not consistent with your claim that women only divorce because men are not willing to work on the relationship. It was closer to the opposite actually.

Women usually dont leave someone they love and have kids with without a good reason, they must be really unhappy. Regardless if you disagree, the whole point is that noone wants a divorce, do you think women are happy to have failed marriage? Noone gets married thinking they will divorce, so the only question is why women do it? And since we all think marriage is forever, than the conclusion implies there are likely good reasons for it. Majority of people dont take marriage or divorce lightly.

Well, there are more women than there are men here, and the vast majority of married people marry the opposite sex, so that's to be expected.
