I think bad divorces or relationship endings lead to bad co-parenting situations.
Mine was bad, so I just did my end of the job and my son knew that was the way it was. I think kids come out better if there IS co-operation between the parents.
You don't have to love someone to do an important job together, and that's what child-rearing is. A job. That exes want to use it as a way to hurt the former partner simply shows their mental malfunction.
But that's why they're you're ex, isn't it. Don't hope for it to get better. Just work YOUR end and be responsible. If you have to do the job of BOTH parents, do it. You won't be sorry.
My son is 28. He still has almost no relationship with his father. He has a relationship with me and that's what I'm concerned with. He spent Christmas with his father and his dad's woman friend. I missed him, but maybe, just maybe this will be the basis of something better between them. I keep hoping. His dad isn't dead yet.
But if your kids are young, and the breakup is recent, don't hope too much. Just do your part.
I never have but I don't see any reason why it can't happen.
