You should almost always give somebody a second chance. I cannot use a definitive word. Because it does depend on the circumstance. But, as a proper human and as we're biblically instructed. You should be forgiving and it's a sin if you're not. The Bible implies that you should be level-headed, the Bible implies that you should understand that you're human. And mistakes happen. And, you should also realize as a human that you also make mistakes. Some maybe just as bad as the other person that makes a mistake. But nobody ever thinks their mistake is as bad as somebody else's mistake. And that's part of the problem when it comes to forgiving nowadays.

It depends on the "what". If my wife cheated on me once, I'd probably try again, but not more than once.

I'll forgive and move on simply because I'm not going to let someone live rent free in my head. It's not worth it. But I'll move on.

My ex ended our relationship because of how I reacted to her mum being diagnosed with breast cancer and then given the wrong treatment - effectively a death sentence. Apparently being angry with the medics who fucked up was the wrong response. I was told a few months later she was "open" to reconciliation. But I know she'd have expected an apology for my reaction. That's not something I was prepared to do - apologise for being myself.

It doesn't mean I didn't love her. I did. It means I'm not going to spend my life apologising for who I am.

My wife gets mad at me when I react differently to her over things. Neither of us backs down. It's why we respect each other.

Well, on the subject of if she fucked your best friend, that's a generational thing. Yours in my generation will find a problem with that. But nowadays, girlfriends are giving their boyfriends to her friend while she records it. And she's active in it. So, that doesn't apply to the younger generation so much.

Did for far too long. Now nope. My first visit overseas we were staying on family property and wife has a drunk uncle. Well long story short he got drunk while she was visiting her sister and tried to murder me with a shovel. I blocked the shovel resulting in a decent laceration on my arm and picked him up by his neck and threw him off our porch. We moved out the next day. I don't like drunk people to begin with but per the wife's request I gave him a chance. That was his one chance. He has tried visiting us and I have thrown him out and told him if he sets foot on my property again he is either leaving in handcuffs or a bodybag
