You won't, but that's not your issue judging your other reply in the comments.
What you are really asking is how do I stop myself from giving up in advance, that I can give you advice on because its simple. Keep your realism but aim to do the impossible, if you achieve it then you have an ego boost since you managed to do the impossible, if it doesn't work out then no big deal since you thought it was unrealistic to begin with.
Having that mindset is way more healthy because you are going to keep your ego intact knowing whats realistic or not, but then your also not preventing yourself from trying difficult things.
Define delusional and why you think that's the antithesis of being realistic?
Because being realistic can be a mental barrier which stops you from doing something as if the outcome is certain. Being delulu means being 100% sure that you will reach an outcome, while not being aware of any possibility to fail.
Sounds like a terrible understanding of both - just be pragmatic but hopeful
