Why would my boyfriend tell me he isn't connecting with me?

My boyfriend told me he finds it difficult to bound with me what exactly does tha mean? He told me last week he still isn't connecting with me.

what is that supposed to mean?

He has been very distant and quite yesterday was his 32 birthday. I left a voice mail singing happy birthday. He never responded bit later in the eveninug told me to come join him for his birthday dinner at his family house at the last minute. I still went I told him in person I love you and he tells me me too.

What is going on in this relationship can someone explain it to me?

If i don’t feel connected to my partner physically and mentally i would feel like i’m dating a stranger.

He may be losing interest due to the lack of similar interests and values? maybe you guys don’t have much in common? things along those lines

Ask him what he meant by it. Maybe he can give you more insight
