He said his feelings might change for me?

Previously, me and my guy friend use to have feelings for each other. We got into a fight which left us not talking for 6 months. We rekindled and worked things out to where we are back to where we were. We are still working on trust.

He mentioned the way I speak to him almost sounds like I have a crush on him because I tease him a lot and the way I talk to him (he teases me back). I stated I dont know if I do and I dont know how I feel about him in that way, and said the feelings might still be there. He said that was up to me to figure out. I asked him if I did confess one day would our friendship change. He said no and "you never know my feelings could change" but its better not now as we are both still working things out in our own personal life.

My assumption is that he is being open to the possibility of being romantic with me but he has a lot on his plate to move into that. Am I wrong?

When he said his feelings might change for you too, that definitely leaves the door open for something more down the line once you guys have had some time to sort your individual stuff out.

Guys don't usually say that kinda thing unless there's at least a little spark or potential interest there already, ya feel me? Like he wants you to know it's a possibility once the timing's better.

At the same time though, it was smart of him to say you guys should hold off making any big moves right now while things are still settling back down between you. Rebuilding trust takes time.

I'd say just play it cool for now - focus on reconnecting as friends and being there for each other in a chill way. Let things progress naturally without putting pressure on it.

Thank you so much! Our fight happened because we had a lot going on in our personal lives which affected our relationship entirely. I am glad we managed to work things out and I do think it's a good idea to focus on building trust again, especially after our fight. I was genuinely surprised he believes there is room for feelings or a romantic path, so I came here to find our whether I was just assuming things. I do get nervous now trying to be his friend because of the past, trying to rebuild things again. He is someone who you can pick up where you left off with no trouble at all, and he mentioned a while ago he didn't care if he wanted to be casual or close friends again, but I believe he liked what we use to have, but still has some trust issues. His trust issues revolve around me around his friends, although nothing happened, but he believes something did happen.

It's hard to say, but i don't think he does right now. He might be open to it in the future.
