Who do you trust more, men or women?

Or on a general basis, do you trust more your own gender or the opposite gender?

My wife is unashamed to admit she trusts other women more than men, that's why she's not keen on having male help in our home.

We were looking for an additional driver/factotum and I would have liked a male one to complement the one we have already (a woman), my wife absolutely disagreed on having a man we don't know in our home and presented a female candidate. I admit the candidate is promising, excellently referenced and has experience as a hostess too, and the big plus is that she's a Chinese mothertongue, unvaluable since I have lots of dealings with the Chinese community in my country and the PRC.

We'll most probably hire her, we already discussed her trial period and training under our other driver/factotum, although what I want to personally evaluate is how she drives, since we'll be giving her the company vans to drive and as needed, our own cars too.

Unrelated, but if someone was still wondering she passed the trial period, so now she drives me around when I need it and helps out with chores.

One thing I liked is that I when I gave her the keys to my car to refuel it, she came back showing me a small dent on the spoiler, admitting she thought she might have caused it by not slowing enough at a speed bump and offering to pay the damage.

That dent has been there forever so she didn't cause it, I told her so but I liked that she thought

That's quite the admission on your wife's part. Must be some stories there, her distrust of men.

I don't think either gender is more or less trustworthy than the other.

I can tell you that I've had a lot of things stolen, and more often it's been by females. I would never hire someone to be in my house, such as a maid who is in everything all the time, but I would be extremely concerned about theft, in that case.

In terms of trustworthiness of character, it's completely equal in my opinion.

For a driver, I would choose a male. It might be a bit of a s stretch in thinking here, but anything to do with safety or machinery, I'd rather have a man in charge, if we're choosing one or the other. There's a strength advantage. Males seem to be much more reckless drivers when they are teenagers (they have newfound freedom, and are testing the limits of their vehicle, and their mastery of it), but once they get that out of their system (and the wrecked cars get replaced), as long as their personalities are not road-ragey, males have better eye-tracking (comes from your hunting days), which is another biological advantage.

But they'd be better at changing a flat tire or dealing with minor mechanical issues, maybe. And what about as substitute bodyguard-type situation - rather have a larger man who can say, "back off" or whatever.

Also, you are surrounded by women, yet again. I don't think it's fair of your wife to set this rule that you can only have women around all of you. You need some male energy there, too.

I will say I stick usually to persona/ display/ demeanor of a person

and a gut/intuition feeling based on the situation.

At one point I remember being trusting of women when it came to help on learning how to do things and trusting men when it came to helping with things. Because for me, men would want to show off but showing off would potentially help me, while ladies may not always have wanted to help and may be jealous or saboteurs.

Meanwhile I trusted females to give insight and guidance because they would usually be honest and willing to teach another fellow female with the best interest of that female learning but on the other hand men may have tried to mansplain or take longer to bring results to a personal goal.

but... there are more women I trust than men I do trust, who would I trust the most though?

that would be a close call between my brother, and my best friend who happens to be woman... and the more I think about this, the more I realize that I would actually trust my other friends, men and women... just as much really...

I guess it would depend on... what would I trust them with?

the close people in my life are not all the same, so they do have strengths and traits that are a bit different with one another so I guess to me it would be about what am I going to trust them with? and then I would decide who I would reach to

however... on a general basis, and this can mean "any person you don't know that well yet" well

on this, I've actually made a differentiation, in my line of work... TRUST and confidentiality are an absolute most, so yes... I do need to know that I trust the people working with me, 111% and so, for the part of the work that's more risky and way more involved, I've hired only men and also men I can trust and this is usually a job done almost exclusively by men, now... for the part involving financial aspects, I've only hired women and also women that I know I can trust with it, because of all of the bankers and financial people I've met and deal with it... most were women, and only two of them were men

and the ones that committed fraud were these two men

If a man walks in and his girl accuses him of cheating because he didn't come home last night and he tells her to calls up his friends to see if he stayed over 3 will say yes 2 will say that he left earlier this morning and 1 will say he is still there. Reverse this and the girls friends will all dime her out. Make with this what you will.

Mostly women. Men have to prove themselves so I'll trust them but even then it's less likely that I'll trust them.

People weren't like that quite as much years ago but now no one seems to care about anyone but their selves. What can I get from this person, what can I get from that person. I hate it!

I think if it comes to complete strangers I trust women a tiny bit more. If I know the person gender becomes irrelevant. There are probably more women I trust because I have more female living relatives and more female friends but the important part is family and friends.

If I had to choose I’d say men because on a day to day basis I mainly deal with them wether they be delivery drivers, truckers or farmers.

Women on the other hand I have more experiences with them lying/dishonest, being manipulative, toxic etc.

but I tend to keep both men and women at arms reach when it comes to trust for me that’s something that is earned. Outside my family there are very few people I trust.

Women lie more than men, but not by much. Neither can be trusted unless being trusted is in their self interest and 80% of both men and women will cheat and steal even when the resulting loss of trust is against their self interest.
