Anonymous(30-35)+1 yYes, it's true, at least for the kinds of men most women prefer. There are male versions of "gold diggers", but they are low quality men and not the type most women want.
You need to understand that men and women have different priorities in a mate, and the ones women have for men are not the same as the ones men have for women.
The things men and women value in each other are, at their core, no different today than they were hundreds or thousands of years ago, even though we live in a very different world now. That's because those things are still coded in our DNA.
Women are still attracted to confident, smart, capable, strong, taller men because those are the traits most likely to make a man capable of protecting and providing for a woman and her children.
Men are still attracted to healthy, kind, compassionate, nurturing women because those are the traits that make a women most capable of being a good wife and mother. Note that "provider" doesn't appear in that list.

Opinion Owner+1 yI should add that for many men, a woman who is highly educated and career driven is actually a turn off. Not because men are "intimidated" by those women, as many women want to believe, but rather because those women's pririties in life are not consistent with most men's. Career driven women don't make the best mothers and wives. Being able to pay for childcare workers to raise your children for you while you are at work is not the same as being a good mother. That should be pretty self-evident.

I once I met a woman who didn't have a bachelor's degree who had just gotten a job as a hostess at a restaurant. I decided to pass as soon as she mentioned that her last boyfriend was abusive, but she stayed with him "because he was a good provider".
If you're interested in having a family with her, what she brings to the table financially or potentially could bring matters. If it's casual dating, it doesn't matter.

+1 yI don’t think it’s very important, meaning that few men are attracted to a woman for her profession, over her looks and personality. It’s a factor and if a girl is attractive and fun to be with can sure be a nice addition to his overall assessment of how he sees her. Income can be nice since money problems can be a real strain on a relationship.
The paradoxical flip side of that coin? It does matter. Most men would not chose to be with a woman who was a sex worker or had an OnlyFans account. So, jobs don’t matter until they matter. Then they matter a lot.00 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yI'd say that's pretty true, yeah. I don't care about women's education and career achievement levels, as long as I see her working smart and diligently. She could only have a high school degree, as far as I'm concerned (from a theory, standpoint, of course).
That being said, I have found that women who haven't attained similar levels of achievement to me seem to get really uncomfortable. But I'm also attracted to more driven women. So the woman's achievement seems to matter more to the woman than to me. I've started to look more exclusively at women with Doctorates and Masters' degrees for the simple fact that women who have attained bachelors degrees don't seem to be as comfortable around me.
Everything becomes a weird competition, and that is absolutely NOT the kind of energy I want in my relationships. I don't want jousting match. I don't want a challenge. I want a sense of peace.
00 Reply 498 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Yes I do because I want to know what she´s doing and how she came to be the person she is. But it doesn´t impact my interest for her like if she worked as a cop or in the medical field wouldn´t change much. To me it´s more important to get to know her character.

+1 yNot as long as she spends less than she makes. I honestly can't even imagine why I would care about any of that any more than caring what her favorite color is. Actually the latter potentially more, because I hate pastels so if she wants them all over the house that'll drive me crazy. Where she went to school or what she does for work is far more irrelevant.
00 Reply 5.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Yes, it is true for most guys. Myself included I don't really care whether you make a lot or make very little. So long as you're smart with your money and don't do stupid things like put yourself in debt because you have a chronic spending issue or something.
But mainly what I care about is character, personality, traits, morals/values, compatibility the stuff that actually matters long term.
00 ReplyI don't care about money or status. I value highly a woman with intelligence. I find a plain woman (chubby and average looks) with high intelligence to be far more sexually desirable than a slender beautiful woman with not so strong intelligence. When I meet a woman who has a STEM career and is unattractive, I just want to go down on her. Some professions don't get me sexually excited. I avoid teachers and nurses.

+1 yI could care less if a woman went to college or has a job. Honestly, I want to take care of a woman and don't want her to have to work and if she can avoid the debt trap that is college, all the better.

+1 yIt’s true that vast majority don’t care about how much their girlfriend makes or what job she has. But I’m sure a majority would say they do want their girlfriend to HAVE a job, and be financially literate. But past that it’s not a big deal.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI can honestly say, I've never once cared about this. In retrospect, I think I probably SHOULD have placed a BIT of value on it. But basically just to make sure she's not doing something that's complete bullshit likely to make her miserable and the world a worse place.

I'd KILL to have a rich girlfriend like Taylor Swift.
Opinion Owner+1 y@handsomelad70 Yeah--that'd be cool. A rich girlfriend like Taylor Swift would also be hot. But rich and not hot wouldn't be great

Oh yeah? You can be her bought boy for a while as you seek hotter babes.

+1 yI don’t really care about that with anyone. That’s superficial bullshit that doesn’t tell me much about what I’d really care about knowing about a person.
00 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Not in the least. I'd like her to like her job but if she is a broke waitress that is cool. Girls tend to think our selection criteria is the same as their's but it simply isn't
00 ReplySome however if he’s a good man he really cares he wants you to be smart and willing to put in work and dedication because your work ethic reflects how you handle tough situations. And tells a lot about your desire to grow
00 Replynormally yes we don't care.
but i do because i would like my girl (s) to work from home if possible.00 ReplyI care less what a girl makes. She can make less, she can make more than me. Relationships are not about money.

+1 yI actually don't but that's because they hardly ever shut up about their accomplishments/endeavors! Sure it's great that (you) applied yourself and congratulations, but stop being a broken record about it.

+1 yI certainly don't never did never will. It makes no difference in our lives. If she makes 0 or 100k a year it would not change a thing.
00 ReplyI don't care about that, her looks and body count matter to me much more.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yFor the most part. I want her to have a job
because with no job or kids, what are you doing all day? Just sitting around getting high? But she could work at McDonald's, I don't care. As long as she's working.20 ReplyDepends. If she's working in adult industry of any kind then we do care. But if she's not, then yes. If she's PRETTY AND GENUINELY KIND we don't really care about the job
00 ReplyIts not like it doesn't matter at all but other factors are way more important.
Unless if its a job that lowers her value otherwise like say if she has a OF.
00 Reply4.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Of course we care unless we are afflicted with the "Traditional" philosophy" wherein we believe that in the US one income is sufficient for a family. It is not.
00 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic. as long as she is happy with what she is doing, and not stuck in a dead-end job.
00 ReplyAll I would care about is if my hypothetical SO were doing what she enjoys.
00 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. A lot of them do, actually. But a woman's personality is a lot more important than her career.

+1 yI'm general, no, we don't care. I don't want a stupid woman but "education" does not make for intelligence.
00 Reply I don't think I could marry an undertaker or a practicing satanist...
00 ReplyAbsolutely. Real men don't care about women at all. Their career job experience means nothing
