If your Dog and your partner were hanging from a cliff , Who would you save first?

My best friends girlfriend said she would save the dog first , All of our mouths dropped especially his , He is devastated by her comment and told me he is dumping her , Would you dump your partner if they choose the pet over you?

Honestly, as much as I love animals... especially dogs, I feel we've lost our humanity quite a bit. Even just 30 years ago, it was practically unheard of to hear someone prioritizing their dog over another human being, let alone their partner.

I know dogs are man's best friend and are as much a part of the family as others. I also know they're much more loyal all of the time. Humans are no where near as loyal. But logic says that dogs lifespan is not as long as humans, so shouldn't you prioritize based on that alone? It's like choosing between an infant and an old person. Obviously, you should choose the infant. Humans also provide a lot more than dogs can and have much more potential in life.

Again, I'm not saying that dogs are not valuable, but to put them ahead of humans shows that you're likely not all there mentally.

I agree with you there Mental , I would never save a dog over a person first , there is definitely something mentally wrong with someone choosing a dog over a person first , The sad thing is his girlfriend said it seriously , why we all dropped our mouths , I even told him I would really reconsider that relationship if i was you lol

I might go for the dog if it's slipping more and my wife has a good grip and I think there's a very good chance I can save both. I wouldn't dump my wife if she does the same. I might even tell her in the situation: "Save our dog first! "

I dont consider animals anywhere near as important as people. I also know pets are not for me so i dont value them the way others may. I’ve had pets before but im not the type to want pets to live indoors and all of that. I dont like pets jumping up on me or none of that. So yea im saving any person that is not an animal clearly

I agree with you 100 percent , I don’t care if I like the person or not , I would never save an animal over a human being period , a person that would save a pet over a human being should be put into a mental institution and get intense therapy for being a friggin weirdo. It’s like a home being torched up on flames with a family and pets inside. My ass is going to do my best to save the family first not the animals , the animals would be the last thing on my mind period

About a dozen dogs a year fall off our local cliffs, the lucky ones hit the sea and get rescued. Now you can forgive a dog, they get excited at the thought of a swim or chasing a seagull. But there's no excuse for a human, that's just stupidity so I'm saving the dog. Besides its harder to cling on when you've only got paws
