Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yBefore a little over a year ago I probably would have said 3-5 years older. However, since then I've gotten into a relationship with a guy 14 years younger. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd ever date someone that much younger. What's even crazier is that we're super compatible and have a fantastic relationship. It's not even despite the age gap per se. In fact, in a number of ways I think that the age gap helps the relationship (for example, I have a ton of energy and am pretty adventurous. A lot of guys my age can't keep up with me, but my boyfriend right now can).
I know that my case isn't universal. There's a lot of other instances where relationships with such a huge age gap wouldn't work out. However, it's also made me realize that there's also probably a lot of circumstances where great relationships were passed up because people were too caught up over an age difference (I almost passed up the relationship I'm in now because of the age gap, and that would have been a huge mistake)
Consequently, I just don't think that there's an 'ideal' age gap per se. What matters more is if you're compatible in terms of your maturity, lifestyle, goals in life, etc. Age can be an indicator of that, but not always. In fact, in some circumstances for certain people (such as myself) dating someone older or younger might actually help in terms of that compatibility.

+1 yIdeal is 0-3 years, preferably same age. In general, i want someone in their 20s until im no longer in my 20s

I prefer 1-5 year younger, would go out with 6-9 though no problem. I MAY be willing 10-15 but I'll probably be super picky and the girl would have to ask me out, don't really want but if she is amazing maybe I would try. 16+ never too young and will always be too young. At that point I'm old enough to be your father and I don't like that

@Xia1994 I figured you were but hard to tell online lol. Your bio says 23 that is only 10 years. It was on the edge to me. I was telling myself "she is 10 years younger and she is just joking around with you," which ok I don't mind that lol but I was also like "maybe, I said I would just that I would be picky"

I saw there it says you're 33 and i did maths and it hit at 18-19 if your age range is 10-15 so I panicked a bit, motherly instincts kicked in and I just had to speak up for the baby chicks 🫢 even if they do ask you out tell them to go mess around with kids their own age literally.

Exactly they should run for the hills a 18-19 year old is a baby they must go be around other babies their age, you must go be around adults your age also, the 20 and older ones may you find the love you're seeking there's nothing wrong with being a virgin saving themselves for marriage no matter how old you are even if you were 60 there's nothing wrong with waiting for the right person to love and form a soul tie with!. As long as they aren't a baby chick please.

@Xia1994 lol I agree, I'm not ashamed of it and don't worry I'm not that guy at all. Heck you are not a baby and hypothetically if we lived in the same country and we're both single, I be hesitant to go with you for being 10 years younger. Like I said at the beginning you would have to ask me out with that.
PS on a side note I am like 80% Dutch and have always wanted to visit the Netherlands to see where my family comes from, just sharing that hope because I don't see a lot from the Netherlands online

+1 y5-15 years. I'm 34 and would not at all mind being with a girl in her early 20s. I'd even marry one if I could find an attractive, early-20s female who wanted to commit to raising children and hasn't hooked up with all the guys in high school and college.

+1 yGood question, but not sure there is something as an ideal age gap. Things just happen, whatever the age difference. Sure that time passing by, consequences may appear in case of a big difference in age. My wife was 12 years older, and during the biggest part of our 38 years of living together, no one could tell there was such a difference, not till the last few years of her life.
00 Reply726 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Generally it's half plus 8 years that seems to be about as big as works. So from 50 nobody under 33 but from 33 nobody under 25. As you get older a big gap is less of an issue if both are healthy.
My best example is Dick van Dyke whose wife is in her 40s and he's 98! It's about interests and compatibility. Over about 45 not many people take up something new so interests are more aligned.00 Reply- 1.8K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yIt’s subjective. For the most part tho for me personally I think women at age 24 are 👌🏼
There have been some girls that were really mature and had the right mindset at an earlier age though. I think it has to do with their upbringing, since you become a product of your environment00 Reply - 364 opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yNo more than five years.
My wife is 30 and I am 26, as we get more older the age gap is almost unnoticeable.

+1 yI don't think I have an ideal age gap. Any girl that's younger than me is fine. I would date older too if they're my type and have chemistry with me.
If I HAD to choose the age of the girl of my dreams though, maybe 25 at the moment?00 Reply To me it's more about personality and mental maturity than age.
If they're legal it's fine.
They can be 18 or 60, 25 or 50.
I don't care as long as that click is there, I like who they are and I think they're attractive.00 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Girl a little younger but on the same maturity level. For my last relationship that was a 5 year gap, but she was very mature for her age so we aligned perfectly (Sometimes her personality felt like she was slightly older than me).

m +1 yA lot comes down to compatibility, the further you are apart in age, usually the less compatible you are. That makes larger gaps much harder to make work.

+1 yI'm going to say 5 years older to 2 years younger. My ex was like 10 years older which was not the problem. My current boyfriend is like 6 months older.

+1 yI really don't care as long as those involved are of legal age. I wanted my genetic kids, so any woman of the age to have children would do in my case.
