New guy i’m interested, how do I interact with him?

Okay, so there is this new kid at my school and I have no classes with him and rarely see him. He just arrived yesterday and is probably really overwhelmed with meeting new people (plus I have a hard time interacting with new people lol), so I’ve never actually spoken to him. He seems pretty quiet, but already has made new friends with the popular guys. I see him in the hallways sometimes and at lunch. I haven’t tried approaching him yet because I know he is new, and I don’t wanna freak him out. But sometime, maybe when he’s gotten to know the school and the people better, I want to see him and talk with him. How do I interact with this new guy I have no classes with, never talked to, and rarely see? Is there hope?

I would just go up to him and say Hi I noticed that your new and I just wanted to introduce myself/ welcome you to (insert your school name). If you need help finding your way around or tea on the teachers, let me know.
