Is my boyfriend losing interest in me?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 months now and we started dating at the end of the semester at our university. One of my friends set us up together. He usually does take forever to text back, at least several or more hours. Lately he's been taking more than that or at least a couple of days. He still plans fun dates with me weekly and he still asks me about myself over text and in person. He did say that he's having the toughest semester ever and he's having a lot of work to do. Is he losing interest in me or is he really just busy? I will add that he is majoring in biochemistry.

The timing of when you got together sucks because he was just finishing up a semester and you didn’t have an idea of what he was like while he was in school. First off, being a student isn’t a sufficient excuse to waste someone’s time. I’ve seen people with much, much more on their plate (including my relative who had a full time job, did night school for their masters and had twins toddlers at home) who still make time for their personal lives. I am sure you’ve seen this as well, whether it was at home, with your peers or even just yourself being a hard worker and juggling life outside of school/jobs. I fear he enjoys the relationship perks (aka having a woman to do things and have sex with) but knows he isn’t cutting it. Sorry, but school isn’t 24/7 and there’s always time to shoot his literal girlfriend a text even while he’s on the toilet or grabbing food, unless that just doesn’t happen (eyeroll). Maybe you should be rethinking if this relationship is meant for you.

Yeah, I totally see what you're saying. I hope it's not headed in that direction but I guess its just the way somethings work out and I don't want to waste my time. I want to bring this up with him, and I'm not sure if I should text him or talk to him about it in person.

In-person conversations should always be the go-to with conversations like these and anything else like FaceTime or texting be the last result. I think you should just be straightforward, tell him how you’re feeling, and be very honest with each other about if the relationship is actually doable. Unfortunately this could be one of those situations where you care for each other very much and want it to work but realistically he can’t juggle a relationship and school. I understand he’s trying to prioritize his degree and everything, but if that means you have to settle for getting little to none of his time then I don’t think it’s worth it.

Yeah it's just weird because before he would take forever but it was less than 1 or 2 days.

No. I do want to but I'm not sure whether I should text him about this or ask him in person.
