What does bases of a relationship mean? Does anyone know this term?

Relationships aren't what they were back in the day. So, when we talk about the "bases" in relationships, it's not just about the physical progression anymore.
First Base: Communication and ConnectionThis is where it all begins. You're not just talking; you're communicating. There's a difference. It's the late-night conversations, the laughter over inside jokes, and finding those common interests.
Second Base: Trust and SupportNow we're getting deeper. Trust isn't given; it's earned. This is the stage where you're not just individuals; you're starting to become a team.
Third Base: Commitment and Future PlanningThis is where you start building something together. You're past just dating; you're planning.
Home Run: Deep Intimacy and PartnershipReaching this stage is about more than just physical intimacy; it's about having a deep, unshakeable bond. It's when you know each other inside and out, flaws and all, and still choose each other every day.
Not everyone follows these bases in order because every relationship is unique, and that's okay. The key is to be honest with yourself and your partner about what you want and to keep working on your relationship, no matter which "base" you're at. After all, the best relationships are the ones where you keep hitting home runs, again and again, each time learning something new about each other and growing together.

I'll leave you to figure out whether I'm being incredibly facetious or if this is an elaborate metaphor... or both.
Trust and communication and love.
