I need help deciding what to do.. From both guys and girls please?

For the last 6 months, I have been seeing this guy on and off. Since the very begining, he would bring up his ex a lot. (I think they had been on and off for years prior to us meeting and they seem to have a very toxic relationship, which I stated to him from the begining that I wanted nothing to do with.) We have also had our own issues because we both have huge trust issues. Anyway long story short, I have tried to cut him off becaue I do not trust him and he seems very sketchy, but he has his way into luring me back in and messing with my head. I have a feeling that he has also been doing the same thing with his ex and probably wants to keep going back and forth with the both of us. He will never admit to this even if its true so i have been considering reaching out to his ex to have a women to women conversation. Personally I believe that women should stand together and help each other out but I know not everyone thinks that way. I have had others tell me not to reach out to her and to just move on and cut him out of my life (which I have tried). I think that if she was to have a conversation with me about this, it would help me get a peace of mind and stop overthinking it. What do y'all think? if anyone has similar experiences can you share yours.
