What’s something you and your partner disagree on, and how do you handle it?

I have some thoughts that tend to come off a bit chauvinistic that irritate my wife although they aren't actually chauvinistic.

For example, I think a lot of women's sports like women's soccer would be more popular if the women dressed in a very sexy way. I'm not saying that's how it should be! I'm just thinking they might sell more tickets that way. 😅 It's a practical observation and idea, you know, not like I think women should be wearing sexy clothes but just that more men (possibly even more women) would probably watch in that case. I'm not saying that's how the world should work; I'm just thinking that might help ticket sales based on the unfortunate way the world works.

That said, I always find a way to make her laugh at the end. That's mostly how I deal with it. Also my wife and I don't have to agree on everything. We disagree on a lot of things with an entertaining concoction of irritation, laughter, and hugs.

That's not what I meant! I don't even think that. Actually I don't think it's worth the extra ticket sales anyway if women have to wear sexy clothes to sell more tickets. I'm just saying I think they'd sell more tickets if they did. 😁

Another is interior design. I really like very spacey homes that give us a lot of room to move about freely, swing our arms without hitting anything, just lots of space. It's especially difficult to create a very spacey environment in our much smaller Japanese homes here.

My wife likes to have a lot of furniture: all sorts of cabinets and drawers everywhere. She doesn't mind making things feel a bit cramped to have more furniture and places to compartmentalize and organize everything.

So we just sort of compromised on that. We have one room that's very spacey with almost no furniture except cushions and my private room has almost no furniture except my desk and a few other things. The rest are a bit more cramped and more suited to her design taste.

We disagree all the time with regard to holiday destinations and what we do when we get there.

She loves to laze around by the pool being waited on hand an foot. Me? I get bored after 5 mins on a lounger. I have to go and do things.

How do we resolve it? We make allowances. Sometimes we go to where she wants, and other times where I want.
As for what we do when there? We mostly find things to do that are more me than her, but I still sit around the pool occasionally, just go swimming a lot!

Oh absolutely. When you go there, she is in her comfort zone, her castle so to speak. Take a fish out of water to get to know the real fish (not calling her fish, just first analogy that came to mind) Oh and I almost forgot. Thank you for selecting my answer as MHO

One thing that’s always in the disagreement topic: How he spend his money.
I know it is his own money but he needs to be smart about spending it on his hobby and interests.

When you say "his money", i'm assuming you both have a joint and then your own accounts? If so, shouldn't one then be allowed to use their "own" money as they want? If you don't have a joint account, then its something to consider if you are living together.

No we don’t have a joint acct but I’m talking about, yes it is his very own money, I know it’s completely his right to spend it however he likes. But I personally think it’s not smart to sell and buy sport/super cars every 2 years. Or am I just a middle class minded growing up so that’s why I’m like this? I never know

If you are living together and share the expenses, then you have all right to get upset and demand a joint account. I believe it's the fundamental step to give you both some peace and calmness. If, most expenses are paid by him, then you have always the right to express your opinion and together find a common ground which helps you both.

we disagreed on many things, but we could always talk things out. There is no special way of handling it. If both partners want to talk, it's kinda easy to solve

I've never really had many disagreements with any of my partners to be honest probably due to my extremely laid back nature. I just don't see any reason to engage in petty debates and squabbling life is to short, save that for actual important disagreements of which I have not had to deal with so far. Of course that can change at any time.

Really most of my disagreements I had were with my last partner (ex) but looking back she was a fairly toxic individual, just couldn't see it at the time but even then there really weren't all that many. Though the ones that did happen led to it's own set of problems.

I'm with you on this being very laid back. So my wife constantly hears from other couples how they fight and have heated discussions in their relationships and here we are believing something is wrong in our dynamic. We've had disagreements and when we do get upset, it usually lasts max half an our, and then we are back to just being normal. Even if we have a heated argument just before bedtime, we still kiss goodnight and say we love each other. In the morning its all cool ;D
