Personal question: what do you and your significant other mainly argue about?

Since living together, we argue over minuscule things such as him not cleaning up after himself. Truth is I can't remember what we argued about before we moved in together.

I've been wondering what other couples argue about. Are they trivial things? Serious? What the last argument you had with them about?

We actually get along super well. Sure, we have our fights here and there, but we also genuinely do try to work things out, make compromises, and genuinely care about the other person and how he/she feels (which is a huge reason why our relationship is the best I've ever had and also why I'm so confident that it's the relationship that's going to last forever)

With that being said, we do get in the occasional argument, and it's almost always over one of three things

1. Lining up our schedules and making things work out with us. I'm a single mom and he doesn't have kids. Consequently, I think he sometimes doesn't get that he's got to be more patient with me not being able to be as available as single women (which is what he's used to).

But even then he's usually pretty understanding about me being a single mom. He's actually often very supportive (more so than a lot of other guys I've dated). It's just that sometimes there is a bit of a disconnect there.

2. Money. I make a lot more money than him (he's in grad school and I'm a successful realtor). Most of the time he's perfectly fine/secure with that, but there are certain times when he's bothered by it (which makes me feel hurt and that he's not supportive or proud of me).

This was easily the biggest issue we had/what we fought about the most at the beginning of our relationship. However, we've both been able to work at lowering our pride, really trying to understand the other person, and truly caring about how they feel. Consequently, (even though I still think it's kind of dumb) I've been able to sympathize with his struggles of feeling not as manly or valuable in the relationship. Since I've worked really hard to help him feel truly manly/masculine (asking him to help me with certain tasks (particularly fixing things), cook meat, oogle over his muscles (which I did anyways, but I just do it more now. haha), compliment his manly part (if you know what I mean), etc.) and really expressed how much I really do need and rely on him he's become far less bothered/intimidated by my success (and even very supportive of it).

We still argue about it sometimes, but it's pretty rare now. In fact, out of the three this is easily what we fight the least about (although we still have on a rare occasion).

3. Sex. Mostly because I have a higher libido than him. Consequently, there are obviously times when I'm super horny and he turns me down (and I don't get it as much as I want). That alone would be difficult to deal with, but the fact that I'm the woman (whose supposed to have the lower sex drive) and that we have a major age gap (with me being the older one) adds a lot to it. It can make me feel like he's not as attracted to me. I also have this fear about eventually getting too old for him to be attracted to. Moreover, sometimes I think he's out of my league because he's so freaking gorgeous and has such a smoking hot body (which can make me feel intimidated). It can/has made me paranoid that he is (or at least will) get bored of me and leave me for someone younger.

However, those are also usually more fleeting than something I feel permanently. He does make it super clear that (despite not having as high of a libido as me) he's still very attracted to me (and isn't wanning in his attraction). Also, when I take a walk, calm down, and think about things I pretty much always come to the understanding that I he hasn't given me any reason to believe he's cheating on me or wants to leave me for a younger woman. Moreover, even though we don't have as much sex as I want, we still do have sex very frequently/regularly (and it is consistently very high quality sex).

Not much really. We know to concede to the other person if something is more important to them.

Anything not so important isn't worth arguing about. I don't like him leaving his clothes on the floor, but it's not worth it to me to argue about it. It's easier forme to pick them up when I walk past and continue having a joyful day.

I think when we do argue is when one person is trying to communicate how passionate they feel about something that is important to them and the other person is trying to convince them that they are already aware.

Example; I'd love the two of us to take a much needed vacation. I know we can't right now because we are putting kids through colleges that are out of state and any extra money goes to airline tickets for visits.
