I had an unrequited love. My problem was that I spent so many years thinking that he would love me back; if I just spent more time with him, if I just got him the right gift, if I just wore this or that dress he would open his eyes and realize he loved me. But he never loved me back, I was only a friend to him and nothing more.
The truth is I didn’t really love him, I loved the idea of him…the picture of him I created in my head that loved me back.
