How long have you been with your partner? and how long after you've been away from them does it take for you to miss them?

If I love someone, I miss them whenever something cool happens and they’re not with me to share the moment — to touch each other’s arms/hands in awe, to laugh or smile together… you want them there. I’ll also miss them in quiet moments, hoping they’re ok, perhaps a little curious about what they’re doing, feeling the urge to at least steal a quick hug…. I’ve never measured how long that takes. Sometimes it’s the second we say our first goodbye… so we both linger a little, standing close, talking nonsense just to stand there a moment longer… but ultimately we have to go about our respective days, so we force ourselves to part, chin up, smiling, so that the other person remembers us that way till we meet up again….

Well I guess it all depends on how long you have been together.

If you are freshly in love and been together for just a few days or weeks, then it might take much less time than if you have been together for 10+ years.

When you have been together for such a long period of time, you may actually not miss the partner at all and if you are honest with yourself, be happy that you have a little bit of freedom to be able to do what YOU want and not what is expected of you. The length of time that you are together probably determines the length of time before you start missing your partner. Anywhere between 1 day and 6 months I would assume.
