I know marriages are declining but is doing a proposal prank about it going too far? I'm asking this because my friend (26 F) just dumped her now ex boyfriend after he did that prank. He supposedly copied a prank like that from a couple youtube videos.

Given my friend's reaction (earning him an immediate break-up, getting ghosted and then blocked), it wasn't funny at all. He was keeping a straight face for several moments and going along with the prank for nearly an hour. Once he saw her crying, he tried calming her down, saying he would one day propose for real but she broke up. Even if less men are into marriages, isn't that still cruel?

I think that prank is too harsh to even begin with. People consider a proposal to be beautiful and special, so I don't blame anyone who gets dumped over faking it. It's like telling someone to close their eyes because they're going to give you your first kiss, but instead you get slapped in the face. I realize this is tougher for u to understand because women have been brainwashed to believe that only their wants matter in a relationship, however I teach men especially young men that there is nothing wrong w/ putting yourself first in a relationship.
