Someone I know confided about this. She feels unheard and unloved everything there is a difference in opinion on something or whenever there is a topic she doesn't agree, he always says ''shut up''. It's always a ''shut up or shhhh'' for everything that she doesn't agree on.

Personally I wouldn't tolerate being disrespected in that manner.

Absolutely and not to be tolerated. The first time they do that should be followed with a warning that it's the first and last time you'll ever tolerate getting disrespected in that manner. I will not shut up just because you don't like my opinion. There are ways to communicate without trying to silence me.
