Is the saying ''love is blind'' stupid?

Supposedly you can't help who you fall in love with and end up pinning for. What if you already know the person doesn't love you, never felt the same for you and never will?

Then I'm guessing you can quit by then. Or are you going to continue fantasizing about your unrequited love? Off course the Spanish saying is ''En el amor no se manda'', meaning that love is blind, don't decide whom to fall in love nor when, the heart wants what it wants. Is that saying full of BS? Personally if someone felt nothing for me, I would stop right there. Isn't there self-control for that too?

Kind of. But only because the word "love" is far too over used of a word. Typically what people are describing is "limmerance". Very few people ever get to the point where they actually love someone before the lose interest and move on. So it's not really that love is blind. It's that the person typically is blind to the fact that what they're feeling is not really love.

Personally, I think yes. Because true love is seeing. It’s seeing everything- the big picture…. the perfections, the imperfections, and making a choice to commit to their happiness anyways. That’s why love makes us feel vulnerable and defenseless. When someone says “I love you”- and they really mean it- what they are really saying is “I see you”. And you cannot see if you’re blind.

The saying love is blind means that when you love someone deeply it can kinda make you blind or dull your perception to a persons faults, red flags or annoying things they do that you would otherwise notice.
