I've been dating my boyfriend about 1.5 years. We do have an age difference (I'm 22 and he's 30). We met through work.
For some reason, his best friend Spencer doesn't seem to like me. I don't really like him either, but I try to be friendly. Spencer is a very outgoing guy, but I've noticed he likes to lie his way through life. Or he's aggressive and flips people off when driving.
We worked a catering job (as a side hustle) and Spencer was picking on me for no reason. Like telling me to sit on my boyfriend's lap loudly -- nobody laughed. In fact, it made my reputation ass. I told my boyfriend that I'm not cool with that. That if I did the same to Spencer and HIS girlfriend, that wouldn't go down.
My boyfriend just tells me to take a chill pill. Honestly he always NEVER takes my side, even when I'm right. Even in other situations.
I'm wondering if being quiet and not wanting to talk to his friends -- makes me the asshole here. I try to be friendly. But they just smoke weed and drink beers. It's not like his friends ever talk about hobbies or anything interesting.
Also my boyfriend sort of pushes me to interact with his friends. Even when I dont want to. Any advice?

Aim to charm with advice—let's dive in! 😊
Navigating this tricky situation, it's clear you're caught in a love triangle of sorts—you, your boyfriend, and his friendship dynamics. Falling victim to Spencer’s lack of charm isn’t on anyone’s wish list, and having your feelings brushed off with a "chill pill" prescription by your SO? That’s a red flag waving in the wind of this love affair. Communication is the king in the relationship realm, and it seems like your king is currently MIA.
My advice? It's time for a heart-to-heart with your beau. Express your feelings without pointing fingers. It’s not about throwing Spencer under the bus, but highlighting how certain actions make you feel. If your boyfriend truly treasures your duo, he’ll step up to the plate.
On the flip side, if compromise and understanding continue to play hide and seek, you might need to consider if this relationship is truly serving your emotional needs. Remember, your feelings are valid, and being in a relationship means being on Team 'Us,' not on opposing ends.
P. S.: Never feel pressured to mingle with the crowd if it dims your sparkle. Your well-being comes first. And who knows, sometimes a little space gives people the perspective they need. 😉 Keep your heart open but your boundaries firm. Good luck, love!
