Friend’s boyfriend rude and condescending towards me?

I hate my friend’s boyfriend. What should I do? He insults me all the time, saying condescending things like saying I’m stupid or dumb. He also criticises the way I dress and says I’m “not as pretty as everyone makes me out to be.” Him and I had history before him and my friend started going out unfortunately. My friend never says anything when he’s rude to me but I’m only ever nice to him to keep the peace. What should I do?

This probably isn’t what you want to hear, but I can bet money that he acts that way towards you in order to appease her. Already a good friend would never let her boyfriend constantly disrespect you and sit idly by — that doesn’t make sense. What does make sense though, is if she’s jealous that you and him had a past. She is probably super insecure about it and I’m sure she’s bitched to him about it. Talking down on you and being how he is is probably the only way to reassure her that nothing is happening with you two and/or that he doesn’t want you. I’d be done with them both.

I genuinely do think so. You’d be so stunned by how your “friends” can be behind closed doors. I saw in your comment to the other person that you live with her, but honestly I think it’s time to go separate ways.
