What are we supposed to do when someone totally misjudges us and actually believes what they are saying is true when they are totally off base?

Some people are very bad at judging someone's character and tells them what they think about them.
How can you defend yourself when they are so wrong about you and they're just bad at judging someone's character?

That is a tough question to reply to! Without hiring a hit person. Which I know you wouldn’t. Just continue being your kind, honest and loving self. Hopefully everyone will see you for what you are and not believe the bad person.

It's only one person that has been messaging me an I've been messaging him as well for about the last 5 months now.
I have been nothing short of supportive towards him, encouraging him, and he knows that I am a good woman otherwise he wouldn't have been messaging me for 5 months.
He didn't like the way I replied to someone in a question here but I was just being factual.
He is following 29 other women on here as well.
He is hiding a secret about himself that is pretty serious and I don't think he's letting the other women he's following about it.
He claims to be this great Christian man on here but he has a skeleton in his closet.

I'm staying out of it. Let him keep it from them. It's called the lie of omission.
One woman he is private messaging doesn't know about it and he says that she is so sweet and they get along great. Well that's because he's not telling her the truth about himself 🤷🏼‍♀️

I mean... at certain point, what CAN you do? People are going to believe whatever they want to believe, regardless of the facts. And if it turns out that they're wrong, they'll usually dig their heels in and double down because their pride is on the line.

It really sucks when you're dealing with someone who just isn't getting the message because it feels like you need to start getting rude with people and getting their faces before they'll stop complicating things.

All I do is provide the most accurate and honest information I can, and insulate myself from whatever stupidity the other person is going to try to do.

If you think about it, the second you respond in any way you are merely confirming what they already believe.

It's best to be nice and let them believe what they want, that way they can make a guess, but they will never know for certain!

Those people are not so bad at judging character but, are of course, trying to set you up as a straw man for them to attack. They are willful, not bad judges.

It is a common form of attack the left uses. The step to take is to challenge their characterization of you. I might say "You can't possibly know what I think as you haven't asked me yet. I might tell you if you did".

You can’t control how people perceive you, every person has their own idea of you in their mind. Some are completely off based from who you really are as a person. But if you’re going to worry about how other people see you then you’re gonna be running down an endless road. All you can do is just be yourself, defend yourself by showing your good side and not taking their judgment of you personally bcs deep down you already know that they’re wrong.

Actions speak louder than words, so if they are around, they will see that they misjudged someone.
