How important is money to you in a relationship?

The older a person gets, the more important it becomes. I can see the first being applicable for college students/startups. But after a while, it's kind of an indicator of a person's work ethic and time management skills. A broke person at 20 is not a big deal, a broke person at 40 or above is kind of a red flag. A lot of divorces cite finances as a major point of contention, and I don't think that's an accident.

I don't need a lot in life. But I can't stand debt and irresponsible financial management. It's a dealbreaker for me, actually. Better a lower income with attention and care, than a millionaire in catastrophic debt.

I think they have to be doing something that can contribute towards dates, etc. I am not about to pay for everything all the time, however, there will be times when I say, I was hoping we could head out for the weekend and I would not expect her to chip in as it was my idea.

It doesn't matter to me. I anticipate marriage and dating and then supporting someone (then hopefully a family) all as a big expense for myself.

I do not care if the girl is flat broke as long as she isn't dumb with money or is open to learning

I used to say 0/10. But now i’d say 5/10. We both need to have our own money because i want to be able to do things together and not always have to pay for my partner. That shit got old quick having to pay for the majority of guys i dated 2017-2024. I used to say it wasn't an issue if a guy was on the comeup but they play broke yet go impulsively buy some game or car yet can't pay their part of the hotel resort, food, plane etc. Its sad. But i like solo traveling and they got mad when they werent included. Sorry but im not gonna always pay your way especially if you're prob earning more than me but unable to save shit

Depends on what aspect of money you’re talking about. It’s important that they’re responsible with money and don’t steal money from the people they care about.

However, at my age, not having money doesn’t really mean anything considering most people my age are in college or just starting their careers. In either case, that typically means they’re not making a whole lot of money or don’t have a whole lot of it laying around somewhere.

As long as they're responsible with their budget and doesn't have irresponsible debt, then I really don't care that much.
I'm not looking for a partner to be financially dependent on. And I would never want to feel like a financial burden either.
