What does it mean when a man says this?

“You remind me of my younger self.”

For context, a 39m said this to me 28f several times over the course of us getting to know each other (1 year).

Also I don't know what’s happening here. It’s been a year and we don’t follow each other on social media, I haven’t met his family but he’s told me things about his family and has even told me I can meet his mothers dog.

He’s invited me to church once with him sometime last year but it hasn’t happened yet. Recently he mentioned going to the beach together to cast off messages in a bottle for s&g’s.

We text every day, I try to see him at least twice a week but once a week is pretty routine and standard unless I can’t see him for my own reasons vice versa.

We used to go out to dinner pretty consistently but lately it’s been me coming over around 8pm and of course going home the following morning.

But he’s been very present and supportive of me this entire time. He’s bought me things. He worries about my health.

I don’t know what to make of it.

We did briefly talk about the nature of our relationship once but I psyched myself out of letting him be completely transparent about his intentions and kind of “well from what I remember you at the beginning said you weren’t looking for anything serious, and I mean ofc I like you but I’m just going with the flow.” And his response to that was “you’re right I did say that at the beginning and that even though we aren’t in a relationship he tries to give me the respect as if we are in one and treat my like so.

But I don’t understand what is happening.

I really like this person. And honestly my heart is breaking and not sure if it’s breaking itself but this worry sucks
