1 yThe expectation of the male as the “Breadwinner” is a completely outdated family paradigm , in-fact the whole breadwinner label is outdated in my opinion. There is no place in my life for any woman that would expect that of me in present circumstances , nor would I want to be a kept man of the situation were reversed.
There may have been points in my life passed where supporting a wife or girlfriend financially for a limited period of time made sense or was the right thing to do but otherwise I would want and us both contributing financially to everything even if disproportionately.
Being “comfortable” with the idea of a wife or girlfriend completely financially dependent on me , I would have to be rich to the point where the money literally has no meaning.
Presently I could financially support my lady and likewise her me but we would much rather have the quality of life we have with the careers we have chosen and enjoy00 Reply

1 ywell, that's where I'm at now. Before that, I was the breadwinner of the family... which consisted of a small gaggle of cats (or is it a herd, depends on the cats..) and occasional possum.
my wife makes the big $ and I maintain the house and make little $. I'm ok with it, it's good. I am missing that "what should I do with my time"... so I fiddle faddle til figure that out.
I don't know about more comfortable, it's sort of vulnerable not having career skills being built, but then again, I'm kinda burned out on that anyways. I feel good being house keeper because Im alwys doing something, no boredom.
I have those fears... what if something happens to her. Talk about a change in life, like the the pin that holds it all together. thats why I say I jump in front of bullets for her.

That’s how it’s suppose to be for any couples!!
No worries…I’m sure I’ll outlive you. ❤️👍😘
I don't know if "comfortable" is the word I would use. It kind of trades one stress for another. The original stress of having to earn money to support the household is replaced by the stress of failing to live up to expectations. Though, I suppose if you're with the right person, maybe you let go of that. I don't know.

1 yI'm too much used to give my own (major) contribution - so I lack the imagination of how it would be like the other way round.
Even if it would not be requested (or required) ... I'm too much of a pro-active person to just lean back and do little :)

1 yIf she makes more money than me idc. So long as we’re both trying to do our best in the relationship.
That being said, regardless of who makes more. I’m a full supporter of getting a prenup. So if I make more than her or vice versa, and shit doesn’t work out. Nobody is going to essentially steal from the other. Let bigons be bigons00 Reply I like working. So if this was a situation where she made the bulk of the money, and I was working to keep my sanity, I’d be okay with that. I think this naturally falls apart once we decide to have kids. Lot more steady if I was the bread winner, and she was the one working when not busy being a full time mom.

1 yWho’s gonna watch the kids? Women aren’t meant to be the providers no matter how badly they want to be like men. If they want to be the breadwinner they gotta suck it up and start fucking a feminine boy. 🤷🏻♂️

🤷🏻♂️ fine by me you’re all gonna end up miserable
Here’s a caveat. I know its hard to imagine but people who homestead, raise livestock, and homeschool - fathers tend to take their kids out and teach them how to do the job at a young age. If you mean who’s gonna watch the babies…damn straight a guy has 0 instinct on how to watch a baby. Surgery, delivery, protecting it from the weather or a wild animal…but watching them…naw. I assume daycare and he just sits there contemplating existence

1 yIf it is a relationship founded on love idc in all honesty.
10 Reply 1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Currently inherently yes due to a health limitation. But its not what I ultimately want. I enjoy the idea of being a provider I just have to find a way to fix my body first.
00 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Hell yeah ! Weight off my mind , but I want her to be very rich , and well connected , and I could simply follow my passions , and also head out to some of the business functions .

1 yHeck no I don't want to freeload off someone else as a full grown adult.
Not only would life get really boring really fast (I love my job), my partner wouldn't be able to respect me and I wouldn't be able to respect myself either!

1 ySimply put it’s just not possible to have a decent quality of life here on one income. I don’t expect a girl to make as much as me, but she's gonna have to pitch in something. Plus I don’t want kids so it makes no sense anyway

1 yIf I met a girl that didn't expect me to take care of her financially Id be ecstatic. Im not trying to be anyone's breadwinner.

1 yIndifferent.
Before things turned out the way they are now, my wife actually wanted me to stay home while she worked.
00 Reply 595 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Being the sole breadwinner in a household isn’t a good feeling in today’s world. With only one breadwinner. Rather you are single or supporting a family. If something happens to you or your income. You will be in a terrible situation!
00 Reply10.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. We both enjoyed working. I can't imagine a life of staying at home all day.

1 yThat'd be great, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable not contributing significant finances to thr household unless my partner was unreasonably wealthy.

1 yThis is not an excuse for her to do nothing cause there's already a breadwinner.
Don't expect me to carry you throughout life. I work for me mostly
