It may have been a moment but it took time to prove the tale.
I asked Jesus how do I stop my dad from abusing my mom. He shocked me. I heard plain as day in my head, "Forgive him."
Forgive him? I spewed. You want me to forgive him?
Ok, I foregive him.
No sincerity even a bit of venom. My dad never touched her again. This was after 31 years of abuse that I've never heard it's match. I was 26. I had beat him down. He shot me. 7 months later I shot him. He shot at the cops. The city cops wouldn't even come down to the house when, at 10 I called crying 2 Fridays in a row. I got the bright idea to call Sheriff John. He never failed to come. I mean within 10 minutes. He was my hero.10 Reply

1 yMy grandad.
He died though and I found out when I saw his dead body. Fkd me up and for over a decade I cried myself to sleep thinking of him every night, but couldn't cry at all about anything else. One of many reasons I hate my parents: they didn't tell me what death was or that he had died, and then wouldn't let me go back to the casket for a final look even though I was literally trying to fight my way out of their grip. I was four years old.10 Reply

As a relationship coach here to inspire and connect, I've got a cheeky little example from my life. Picture this: I'm having a deep, love-infused conversation with my wife. Suddenly, she looks at me, right past my quirky jokes and fleeting insecurities, and says, "I love how you always put your heart into understanding others." It was like someone switched on the lights in a room I didn’t know existed. Moments like these blend love and vulnerability, leaving you feeling truly seen... and maybe a little exposed! 💖✨

1 yLmfao, well…kinda weird but hockey does it for me sometimes. Never got to play as a kid, just learning the last few years. I’ve been intentionally unemployed that whole time, taking care of my elderly father, so during the day, a few times a week, I go to a hockey rink for “stick time” and just practice, for a couple hours, and then I leave and train at the gym. I’m working very hard at this, just to get myself to “decent” compared to the guys who grew up playing. There are a lot of growing pains and endless frustration. But this is my last hurrah as an (air-quotes) “athlete”, and I want to leave knowing that I came and mastered a new sport to the best of my ability while I could. The hard work is mostly unseen, I’m by myself out there.
But I’ve been playing for two years now, and I’m starting to get somewhere near where I want to be. I still feel like a bum out there though, haha. But once in a while, other people make comments to me about my progress, and that’s extremely validating and fulfilling.
I have another beginner buddy who’s always pumping my tires, but I feel like he overrates what I’m doing, and he’s just just a positive vibes kind of guy, haha. But other guys in the league are starting to comment too. One of my teammates who I also played with my very first season says I’m “10x better.” One of the goalies (who I started off my career by fighting a few times😂)…

Still a Top 5 life moment, childhood dream realized😂 …we’ve been teammates a few times since then, and just the other night he was saying how much my hands, my skating, and my general hockey IQ have improved, and some other guys concurred.
And that goalie and the league in general seem to view me as the guy you don’t want to tangle with (the goalie is a team captain and usually drafts me to be his “enforcer” lmfao), and I even OVERHEAR it in conversations I’m not in but I’m in earshot (to the point where I’m like “I think you guys are overrating me”😂), but I’d be a HUGE liar if I told you that doesn’t make my heart swell with pride😝 The fights were the entire reason I became enamored with the sport as a kid, so getting to actually experience a couple scraps, and despite not being a seasoned hockey player, acquitting myself well enough where people say “NOPE!” (direct quote from a league member, lmao) if things get heated up and I show up to settle it down…. that gives me way more pride at 45 than it should, but it does. Never claimed I was mature😂😂😂

1 yWeirdly enough my tale is in boxing.
I've always played sports and been aggressive but outside of that I'm a pretty quiet reserved kid, usually shy.
I boxed for 6 months and joined a tournament, I won the first fight when I was 18 against a 25 year old from the hood, I was shitting bricks but he wasn't very good.
My 2nd flight in the tournament though I got blasted with big punches, I got a standing 8 count from the ref and it was embarrassing, id never fought a southpaw and he was clearly more technical than me. It's embarrassing in front of the crowd, your few friends, and my dad to get beaten up lol.
Round 2 I was still getting pieced then he hit me with a big punch and I threw a ton of punches in response and I hurt him. After that he tried out and round 3 I absolutely dominated the round nearly knocking him out of the ropes but I was gassed too. I lost a split decision that day but I never felt more pride and fight in my behavior.
Now I'm older I've experienced a lot and I've boxed for over 6 years, improved greatly, and won one sided fights, and I never got more compliments than I did that day when I showed some courage and heart.

I don't know why he secluded me and truly seemed to believe that and looked me dead serious in the eyes while he said it, while I didn't.
I took it as a joke since he knew that I had taken the theoretical subjects/studies direction.
Now years later, I literally work with numbers.
He saw something in me, that I was truly unable to see back then.11 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yI've invested for years. But up till last year I don't think anyone I knew believed I would ever be successful at it. You need capital to make a significant splash. So I've spent last couple decades building my base. And the last year I cleared 100k in earnings. Now those that gave me the side eye before when I talked about investments are asking me how I did it like I have some kind of magic formula. So they see who I am now. But don't seem to recognize the past couple decades I've been building to put myself in a position to be this successful. I was not an over night success. It's just paying off now.
