It's obvious they aren't back because they suddenly realized it was wrong what they did. They tend to crawl back ONLY when things didn't work out with the other person or they're undergoing hardships. Then all of the sudden, ''you're the one for them''. Are they always opportunists? Or they come back if you're still wealthy, living a good life and they're at the bottom.

If things would've gone great with the other person or the other person was simply much better in other ways, they wouldn't have felt bad for treating you like garbage. They might have even justice it. No remorse would've formed.
