Unpopular opinion but I could (not guaranteed that I surely would) forgive getting cheated on, depending on the circumstances.
Obviously she'll be sleeping on the couch (if not on the carpet or the doghouse) for months, and she'd have to do the bulk of the job to win me back, and at the first misstep she's out on her butt. But I could be willing to try to forgive - of course I wouldn't ever forget, and if it happens again she'll be out on her butt before she can even blink.
When my husband cheated on me it was over immediately because he broke my trust in him and I couldn't deal with being married to someone who I could no longer trust. I filed for divorce right away.
Now, I did have someone who I was very much in love with that I had been warned that he's a great friend to have, but that he does have a wandering heart. 💜
I knew he was with two women when I meet him. But he and I had so much in common and he admitted that he was falling in love with me.
We were together for six years and during that time, he didn't live near me and I didn't see him much. But he did call me every single day for years and always said "I love you" to me.
Then after about 4-1/2 years he moved in with me and it was wonderful!! We were finally together and rescued from the phone.
Unfortunately, I had become ill during those years when we were unable to see each other.
So, he had to make a decision to finally be with me because he did love me or not move in with me because I was so sick.
He was gone for one entire day and night and didn't even call me. He was deciding what to do - move in with a sick lady that he loved or say it was nice knowing you.
He chose to move in with me and take care of me and love me at the same time.
Unfortunately, after a wonderful year and a half he died suddenly and unexpectedly.
I cannot express how much I miss him and how thankful and grateful I am for finally sharing our lives together. I will always love him and I will always miss him and remember him everyday. 💔
I could forgive, but I’m not sure I could trust him or look at him the same way again. I hope, and seriously doubt, it’s something I’ll have to find out.
I have always said no. I broke up with two girls because I had that gut feeling. I asked them about things and didn’t like the answer so I ended those immediately.
Then my last girlfriend happened. She cheated on me. I booted her out the house. A couple months later she shows up saying that he hits her and stuff. I tell her to get out of there. Tell her if she needs a landing spot she can stay at my place temporarily until she finds a spot. Well, she never left. Then I get myself in a relationship with her again eventually which was stupid AF. Guess what happened. She cheated AGAIN! That girl fucked me up after that. She didn’t have to work the entire time we were together. She got whatever she wanted. She really had zero worries. After she cheated twice I couldn’t wrap my head around how anyone could do that to someone who cared so much for them.
My point is, I will never trust a cheater again and it has giving me general trust issues with females.

Sawno, all the signs were there. It was really the dumbest mistake of my adult life. I’m not saying I don’t do dumb shit but she definitely was my dumbest. I can honestly say that it was probably my biggest regret in life too and that’s sad. I was in this weird time in life when I began feeling different about everything. I tried to not be such a hot head. I tried to be more understanding. I tried to think before I spoke. I was just trying to make more of an effort with everything. I was doing all of that not because of her at all but because I wanted to be a better person all together. She definitely picked up on it and took advantage. Lesson learned I suppose. Like I had mention in my comment, I have really got some major trust issues from it. I refuse to get into another relationship. I don’t ever want to put that much time, effort and love into anything because nothing is certain. I told myself I was going to be selfish with my time. I don’t want to sacrifice my time for a compromise on even the little things. If I want to stay in my shop until 4am. I don’t have to ask first we I have plans of any sort or deal with an attitude once I come inside after 12 hours out there. It’s not worth it to me. My time is now my time.

I think if it came to this you would have found out and then it would be normal to sit down and talk about why it happened. I think if it was something that could have been fixed but hadn't I'd be a lot more upset but if it was something we tried to fix but couldn't, then I'd asess the relationship and where we see it going and want it to go. Problem is, from what I see.. relationships seem to be Tyrannies not friendships. Possessiveness and jealousy seem to rule, where's the friendship aspect... Like two friends sharing and talking, doing things for one another to strengthen the relationship? Relationships seem to be based on power and sex...

No I don't think I could. My last relationship was with a woman much younger than me. She had some prankster family members who called me one day to tell me that she was cheating on me.
I could not believe it. I immediately contacted her and she denied it, but of course that's what cheating is so I had to determine if I could believe her.
She said it was her immature family members playing a prank on me.
I wanted to believe it but investigated it myself and in fact it was a prank.
If it had been true I probably would have ended the relationship. Trust is at the core of any relationship and with a severe breach of trust like that it is lost forever.

To this day when I walked in on my now ex-wife doinking the landlord, now it is kind of funny, he was trying to back into the closet pulling up his pants, and she asked me what was I doing here and I told her I used to live here, and turned and walked away.

NO - I have been cheated on twice, when I found out about the cheating the relationship ended the same day, they were blocked on phone/text/social media, all my passwords where changed, everything they had left at my place was boxed and left outside the front door.
You never give a cheater a second chance, if they've done it once they'll do it again.

Gas lit me into thinking he wasn’t cheating. He basically admitted to sleeping in the same bed as a “girl friend” and claimed he didn’t view her that way and that I was overreacting and tried to act like I was mad at him for having a female friend. Just manipulative shitty behavior all around out of him

The nature of our relationship matters a lot when answering this question. Cheating is usually unforgivable, and there is no turning back, however, there are a few exceptions and it can depend on the situation. If we had a previous agreement, then it would be fine. Or, If I got carte blanche to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, forever, then maybe. Usually it's the lies that are most detrimental. A lie is about the worst thing you can do. Lying is the most unforgivable sin.
I am unable to forgive someone for cheating. I would be extremely disgusted and they would lose my respect. There is no going back from it in my case.
