I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost 3 months, and officially in a relationship for almost 1. A few days ago, I was calmly talking to him about a situation that made me upset, and I cried a little. Mostly because of my anxiety medication (he’s aware of that, he also takes it). After that, he said he was worried that I love him, and he only likes me. I’ve never said I loved him before, but I am a really affectionate person. He said he’s not good in relationships, but he’s trying for me (his first and only relationship before me only lasted 3 months, and she dumped him with a lame excuse). The way that he said that really hurt my feelings. He’s very loving and caring about me, we never had a disagreement, he includes me in everything and even invited me to meet his family over the holidays, I’ll be the first one that he’ll bring back home. Does he only need some time? I’m really good with opening up and talking about my feelings, and I’m worried to be with someone that might never love me. Thank you in advance!
1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Well you're into it deep
Okay first of all you need to find more confidence with yourself you need to love yourself really love yourself deep go look in the mirror in the bathroom and say I am beautiful and I love myself I am kind I have a good heart and I'm going to put my 100% into this relationship because I really love him
And then you have to tell yourself I'm going to put my 100% in there and I hope he can do the same and if he can't then I know that I can't make him love me and why would I do that because that would be fake and any moment is any time he could tell me to get lost and I would have to go and you have to ask yourself are you willing to take that risk and then you have to ask yoursel
Because there is no such thing as a guarantee in a relationship you have to ask yourself are you willing to take that pain if he tells you to get lost or if you don't see eye to eye
Because the truth of the matter is is yes you can take that pain if you love yourself and if you give that 100% of yourself to him because that means you did everything in this world possible to make it work
And when you love yourself that allows you to love other people and when you love yourself if something goes wrong you can still keep walking forward and work it out and understand it all because if it doesn't work out I will tell you right now he was never meant to happen
Everything that you're going through right now is for a reason first reason is to make you stronger because I guarantee it there's something somebody waiting for you and if you're insecure if you're not confident you're going to do the same thing that this guy is doing to you I'm just giving you a heads up right now this is the way it works so learn as much as possible learn how to love yourself and have more confidence because you need it because where you're going and once you understand love unconditional love and you put your 100% into it and then when he goes to separate way because after a while you won't be able to take him anymore you're going to walk away and everything that you learned in this relationship you're going to need
It might be a month it might be 2 months after you walk away that you will get into another relationship except for this time the guy that you will be with feels the same way you do right now. And you will be unsure of yourself because you have no confidence and you still have the pain in the hurt because you wouldn't acknowledge it and you didn't let it go but that will be the relationship but it's only going to be good if you learn what you're supposed to learn from this one
And I should probably erase this answer but I'm not going to because you need to believe in yourself and needs to be put right out there in front of you if you want to make this work you have to make it work if you want to make this work you have to believe in yourself and have that confidence and don't take any crap you have to tell him to snap out of it and you guys need to start becoming one I mean I can tell you a lot of things right now you probably won't listen anyway and like I said I probably went over the line here by saying what I said but watch and see what happens you can stay in this relationship but you have to work that you have to make that happen and he needs to find himself too but you can have anything you want all you have to do is ask your thoughts are your future... So love yourself so you don't have to think negative because negative thoughts that you're having will happen stop having negative thoughts remember that thoughts are your future everything you think about now will happen it's a matter of time be positive and love yourself10 Reply

1 ythis is going to be a lot of fun isn't it... getting what you want...
he has a fear of vulnerability. I doubt the issue is if he loves you, but he may be very reserved due to his childhood training+personality interpreting it.
That you both take anxiety meds is a layer ontop of the traumas and your's are not expressed.
I'd suggest if you want anything to work you have a lot of introspection to do and will have to each make effort to see your flaws, own them, and work on them.
learning and growing is required.

This guy sounds ambivalent. He's telling you he's not good in relationships and VERY SPECIFICALLY HE ONLY LIKES YOU. He's worried that you might love him. Yet, he brings you home to meet his family.
But people bring FRIENDS home to meet their families. Especially during the holidays.
Don't put any bank on this guy. Be cautious. I'd give it a few more months and call it a day. He might be a person you can remain friends with, but isn't a solid romantic partner.
When someone tells you they're not good in relationships, that sounds like a warning. But if he treats you well, think, good friendship and see if it builds from there. Two months... Take care.00 Reply
Thank you for sharing your story! I think you are right... He might need some time! You are already opening up and talking about your feelings, that's good! You could continue to reassure him that he doesn't need to say "I love you" back until he does. I also sense that he might be scared to mess up this relationship since he says he is not good in relationships. He might be worried about saying the wrong things and offending you, so he wants to be cautious with his words until he's sure about how he feels.

It's quite common that a weak man will stay with a woman he has no intention of marrying, stringing her along while looking for something else. Don't let that happen to you.
10 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Relationships topic. men & women use the same words but many have different meanings so instead of getting hung up on words look at actions. Also it's only been 1 month of anything official... you are over thinking stuff. It's like if you wanted to drive across the country and you just got 2 miles away from home & you decide to freak out over the trip. Chill out.

1 ySounds like he might be battling something in his head. Like he might feel like he’s not good enough when it comes to relationships (from what I gathered here). Help him find that confidence with those same words you said about him: that he’s caring and loving.
Maybe something in his past makes him think he’s not good for a relationship or something like that. Help him, but he gotta do the actual work himself. It’s good that you care too. That support helps a lot.00 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Feelings don’t increase over time in a relationship, they fade. So if he’s only lukewarm now, starting out, then things will only go further downhill. Best to find someone new who actually is excited to be with you, not just “trying” to be with you.

1 yI hate your boyfriend already. Ok first of all He must love you and you must be his number one priority. It is his job to spend time with you as much as possible. Your men is ungrateful that he has a loving caring girlfriend. Uh guys want relationship complain they can't get a girlfriend but they aren't willing to secrefice. Funny how. come he went to his place and not your side of the family? This guy needs advice before it's too late.
00 ReplyI think relationships get stronger over time. Still make sure you are talking about the important things, like what your future objectives are individually and as a couple.. to see if your visions of life align and you can build something together. The details get worked on as you go

1 yJust take it slow. He's been hurt and he's learning to trust you. I'm that way too. It takes a lot to trust again. I would tell him you respect his thoughts and feelings. Maybe just hug him and tell him it's ok if he wants to take it slow. Then offer to a go do something he enjoys. That will show him you are serious and trying to manipulate him.
00 Reply1.8K opinions shared on Relationships topic. He has a fear of intimacy and is trying to keep you at a distance. If his actions show love, then his insensitive words are bullshit and you should disregard them and relax. You can give this insensitive idiot some time, or you can draw a hard line and tech him a lesson by telling him "if you don't want me to love you then I'll leave. Bye".

1 yHe may already love you but doesn't realize it because he hasn't had much experience with love. It's about how he treats you not about what you call it.
