Someone at my workplace is undergoing this issue. She broke up with her ex boyfriend but they have a cordial treatment because of their baby girl. The guy is always there for the baby. Their baby is slightly under 4 months old. She doesn't want to be a mother anymore and feels she won't provide the care and love the baby needs. She's thinking about placing their baby up for adoption (to a new family) but the ex boyfriend will oppose and likely request to be handed his baby girl.
If your ex girlfriend doesn't want the baby anymore and is thinking about giving up the baby for adoption, would you accept being a single father? Would you let her give the baby up for adoption or raise the baby yourself?

I've never been in that situation, but if I was, I would give the baby up for adoption, where it can have a home with a loving family, including a mother and father, and possibly siblings. That's the best situation for raising a child. I could be a single parent, but it would be better for my child to be elsewhere.
She can give up the baby but the court will prefer placing her with the father or another family member. Also she will be liable for support.
