Should I take my ex-boyfriend back?

Hello all.

My ex-boyfriend and I broke up in the Summer. It was a mutual decision (but it was more on my part) but nonetheless it was painful.

He texted me today asking me if there's a chance of us giving it another shot and honestly? I'm 99,99% on board with it but I told him to give me some time to consider it.

They say an ex is an ex for a reason but we had a lot of good things going, and we got a break because we were in a very stressful place. It's ironic that right after our break up all the problems we had became easily fixable. Why couldn't we stay together and fix them together? I regretted it from day one, I am happy he reached out since I was thinking of calling him first.

I am 99% ready to try again, but I wonder, what will be facing?

I think it's at least worth having a conversation about what caused the break-up, and also how and why. But before you take any serious steps towards anything, it should be just that: a conversation. Or a series of them. There are things that should clearly be sorted out first. You need to clear the air first.

And if you do, please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do not have sex! Full disclosure, I'm completely against sex before marriage anyway, but...but hear me out on this. Quite simply, you don't want something that weighty influencing your decision-making here. Break-up sex, make-up sex, it's all got "terrible idea" written all over it.

Do what you feel more comfortable with but in my experience, an ex really remains an ex for a reason. Rarely do people get back together and then proceed with forming a family in the future. That only happens in movies but rarely in real life.

By ending a relationship, you've already called it quits and eliminated them as a valuable person from your life. A relationship either grows into long-term (having kids with them or marriage) or dies. Take a note that if you get back together, you'll encounter the same issues that led to the break-up. Nothing changes.

I've been through 2 break-ups in the past (2 different ex bfs) and don't regret it at all. The 3rd one was actually the charm for me. My 3rd boyfriend became my now husband after 20 months of knowing each other.

Why in hell would you want your ex back? I seriously can not understand some people strangers ways. An ex it didn't work out the first so why bother giving second chances. It will only get worse.
