My boyfriend and I have been together about two years, and he let me know his phone pin about 6 months in (a bit late imho but that's another issue).
I would say I check his phone about every 3 weeks just to make sure there's nothing going on that shouldn't be. It's harmless, and he didn't know about it... until he caught me recently.
He came home late and jumped in the shower, and so I thought it would be a good time for a check. Please note I never read his private conversations with his best friends, I usually just check conversations with females etc and make sure there's no flirting or inapropriate conversations and so far, have found none.
However, I got caught up in a new chat - it turns out a girl she works with was asking about an upcoming team members bday party - and next thing I hear "get a good look?" and he's standing there, just a towel around his waist, and takes his phone from me, and I see him changing the PIN.
I asked him not to do it, but he said he doesn't trust me now, and is changing the pin. I proposed he lets me know the pin, and I promise to never check his phone again without asking him first, but he just bluntly told me "not happening, you have to earn my trust again".
I think this is an unfair compromise because when I promise something, I keep my work, but he won't budge. Thoughts?
