Why does love feel like a jail when it should feel like freedom?

When things work out then it’s great. But when you aren’t getting what you want it can be complete hell because you are literally battling a natural drug addiction with your brain.

Anyway one major self revelation I have come to recent years is that tend to be overly idealistic at times. Too much fantasy. And ever since I’ve been willing to embrace the ugly truth I’ve improved my judgment.

I recently cut off a short term fling I had going on. Fortunately the girl made the decision really easy for me. She’s not very good at manipulation given she’s used to always getting her way given she is young and beautiful. So used to acting unnecessarily bitchy and selfish thinking there won’t ever be any consequences.

Now she is realizing there are consequences for her bad behavior. Men do have breaking points and we will leave if we’re pushed to the brink. Also not all “nice guys” are simps.

I don't know if freedom is the right word, but in a healthy relationship, it's not exactly freedom. It's more of a happiness and satisfaction being with your partner. Having someone that listens to you when you need to rant or an outlet. Someone that understands the way you think and supports you even when you're in a slump. Someone to share experiences with you in life. Someone you can be physically intimate with when you need a loving embrace (or something a little more primal). An obviously they would do all the same for you.

When you're in a relationship, you should care about what your partner thinks in many scenarios. Like how you're dressing, who you're with, your behaviour, etc. It shouldn't feel like you're in jail if they're kind and mature. But I'd definitely say you sacrifice some freedom when you're in a relationship.

Of course, one-sided love will feel like imprisonment; you know they don't care about you as much as you care about them, but you will continue to torture yourself by holding on to them, restricting yourself of what love is supposed to feel like.

@emeraldsaphire Maybe consider being faithful to someone you love instead of sleeping around like Zues? Either you love them, or you don't if you love them than talk about it with them and bring it up. Have a long discussion where you go over your feelings and communicate. If you don't love them you need to decide if you want to save the relationship or end it.

Every single person I've ever met with the exception of one that has been in a polly relationship ended like the Hindenburg if they poured napalm on it. From what I can tell the one group I think are still together "They may have broken up by now haven't talked to her for a while" are stuck together in poverty and all of them are mentally ill coming from background of either poverty, abused lives home or both and have obvious trauma. Polly relationships are never stable and almost always end in flames because someone always ends up feeling like the "Least loved" in the relationship.
