Why do people become so stupid when they are in love?

It because your brain is releasing feel good hormones and a lot of people literally feel high (or the opposite if their heartbroken).

Now how people control really comes down to their fantasy impulses (which can be an addition in itself).

The younger me was pretty bad about this admittedly. My upbringing didn’t help but that’s another story. But after getting getting a few tough lessons from the school of hard knocks I am much more circumspect and logical.

I just recently cut it off with a young lady that was jerking me around it a bit. It took me a few months (which I regret) but was able to walk away and not look back.

100% true! People definitely become stupid when in love. In fact, things in general often become less intelligent when romance is involved. Think about Joker 2, Lion King 2, Mulan 2, Pocohantes 2, etc. (Joker 2 is an ultimate example of this and among the most recent that gives a hint GTA6 may be fucked cause of a similar concept). People do dumb shit once love gets too involved especially if inorganic. Oh shit and I forgot to actually answer the question! Love distracts a lot of times. If somebody is doing their own thing, involved in their own tasks and such, love can destroy that because suddenly life dedicated to a passion that is usually more productive is suddenly dedicated to a sort of hypothetical and realistically made up concept. As Rick from R and M once said, "what you call love is just hormones compelling people to mate". Romanticizing it is making the mating desire more dramatic and drawn out.. Not much more to it. Putting so much emphasizing on this is actually quite selfish at times. Time and energy that could be put into something useful like building a birdhouse is now hours of staring into somebody's eyes, kissing and saying 100 different versions of "I love you,". If sexual and romantic stuff didn't feel good, nobody would care as much. If it was painful, we'd have WAAAAY less people. Facts.
