My boyfriend doesn't care about my birthday?

next week i have my birthday and i am in a foreign country feeling very lonely and i am a student. he lives here in this country too but it takes 2 hours from my city to his city. he is working but i know it is not hard to take a day off. still, we are not going to meet. we didn't even make a plan or something. he told me he bought me gifts and would give them to me next weekend when i go to his city for a weekend for valentines day, but thats not what i want. i dont want a gift, i want affection, attention and caring. i dont want to be alone that day thats all. should i tell how i feel when the day comes? or what should i do? i am just sad.

Possibly he isn't as into you as you'd like and so he's ok with just giving you a gift when it's mutually convenient rather than going out of his way to be physically with you on your birthday. You're both young and it's normal not to be overly committal at your age. HOWEVER, considering the distance involved and the fact that he already DID take trouble to get you a gift, perhaps wait and see if he CALLS you for your bday, which is acceptable.

I wouldn't be a complete brat about by telling the guy "That's not what I want" bc that shows a complete lack of appreciation for his effort.
