My boyfriend barely pays?

My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship 8 months. He's an engineer making a salary I think like 80k a year and I make 20k a year. He has a house he rents from his parents, car payment, paying back college loans etc. He very rarely pays for our whole date. I typically look at the bill and send him my half. And he doesn't have a problem with it he just lets me do it. I feel bad making him pay the whole thing but it's making me feel like a friend. He makes me feel special in other ways but this is a bit stressful. I've gotten upset about this before and he told me I don't have to send him half but since then he still has been okay with me sending him my half. I'm not sure what to do because I send him it because I feel bad letting someone pay for me but I just wish when I did he would stop me and tell me he's got it you know? I'm not sure what to do because I don't want to ask him to pay for me more but this sucks.

If I take someone out, I'm paying for both of us.
If they take me out, they pay for it.
If we are just out and about and getting food, or one doesn't have cash to cover as normal, we split the bill
