People write about all sorts of things they don’t personally have any experience of (for example murder mysteries, historic novel, and even just writing characters of the opposite gender to themselves) and even things nobody has an experience of. Jk Rowling never went to Hogwarts to learn magic and fight Voldemort and Tolkien never held the ruling ring or fought orcs alongside elves.
