It depends on the person I was married to… what was discussed, how they passed, my personal needs for healing time, etc.


Not everyone is able to move on from a marriage to the love of their life… but widows/widowers have needs too… and hearts that shouldn’t stay completely numb or dormant forever.


I’d take it one day at a time, not push for anything specific, and if I was fortunate enough for God to put a second “right person” on my path I’d have to consider it.


There’s a temptation to just go through the motions (eg, sex) while keeping your heart in stasis, but that’s not very healthy. People have a fundamental need to be loved.

If my husband died I would stay single. I could maybe see myself going on extremely casual dates like just to hang out/have a companion but not like a real relationship or marriage to a new person

It depends on one's age. If young, 20s or 30s, it's likely to start a new relationship, after a period of grieving, of course. If older, 40s or 50s, a new relationship may or may not happen, depending on the individual and the prior relationship. If even older, 60s and beyond, it's unlikely to start a new relationship, though "playing the field" is possible.

I feel confident saying death of a loved one shouldn't stop me coming back to life. After the shock wave. I don't think it can do any good to me to sacrifice my love life to repay a sort of symbolic debt, I don't feel close to XIIth century chivalry

I wouldn't get married to begin with, but I know people who were widowed at a very young age (one in her twenties, married to a very fit, sporty guy who just dropped dead on a football pitch one day, from an undiagnosed heart condition) - so of course they will have other relationships, and most likely remarry.
Even if you're older and don't want a big ceremony, there are often also practical benefits to being married, in terms of tax and inheritance etc.

I began seeing her 3 months after he had passed and 2 weeks later began having sex. Will be 2 years this May.

Does she talk about her deceased husband to you a lot? The reason I ask , I use to have sex with a girl that I eventually found out she was married , when I asked her why she was cheating on her husband with me , she said one of the reasons was because he was married to another girl prior to meeting her that passed away , and all he talked about was his deceased wife to her after they got married , she said she started to not feel appreciated and loved by him because all he did was talk about his deceased wife. I could see where she was coming from and told her to divorce him , if she wants to continue seeing me , she ended up staying with him , but damn she was good in bed lol

She did used to speak about him to me, about how he did certain things, a chief problem was he had very messy DIY and home maintenance habits and I was trying to repair a floor rot in the house as it turns out his idea of repairing a leak is to reroute the leak elsewhere. Except his reroute also leaked and began rotting the floor.

She also spoke about their lovemaking habits as she was surprised the first time she didn’t need to do a BJ or that she wouldn’t be the one on top.

But it reduced after 4-6 months.

If I had to guess I would say I'd probably get into another relationship after about 2 years and then eventually get remarried. I would probably want to have sex sometime in that 2 years.
